Last week, Google rolled out turn-by-turn navigation for the first time in the UK, rivaling the paid-for alternatives that are currently available on the Market, and dedicated satellite navigation systems made by companies such as TomTom and Garmin.
The update was rolled out to users of Android 1.6 and above (sorry HTC Hero owners) without any updates being pushed to phones, so many users that I speak to are still unaware that they actually have the feature available to them. Having the choice of satellite navigation available to me on my Google Nexus One handset is a great addition to the Android mobile phone platform.

It’s been a while, probably not since Google Chrome was released to the world, but web browsers are back in the big news again all thanks to Microsoft’s EU enforced ‘ballot box’ for selecting a browser to install. This time around, it’s to do with the actual Google Chrome browser share of the market and how well it is starting to gain ground on its established competitors.

One of the great things about any Linux distribution is the ability to customise the look and feel of it to your taste. Throughout the past week, I’ve discussed software availability, compatibility and ease of use, but I haven’t gone as far as modifying the way I use it.
Not long ago I reviewed the iTap Touchpad iPhone app which acted as a multitouch trackpad for any PC or Mac. I discovered the app was feature filled, responsive and overall pretty good. But then I stumbled across the new Logitech equivalent which I must say, threw all of that iTap hype right out of the window, across the street, and straight into the nearest bin. It’s hard to imagine that these apps differ much at all, but the few subtle differences there are, trust me, they make a big difference.
