There’s currently a lot of talking (or hype, depending on your viewpoint) surrounding 3DTV, a lot of which has come off the back of 3D movies being shown in cinemas and most notably the success that the Avatar 3D movie has had.
That particular 3D movie in itself has led to more movies being made into 3D to be shown in cinemas, even if they were originally filmed in traditional 2D, although as someone who is fairly “3D-sceptical”, it’s probably a good thing that not all of these implementations have resulted in great results. For example, many people have said that the Clash of the Titans movie in 3D, was not well done at all, so that alone might put off movie studios simply running movies through a computer to “3D-ify” it to make extra cash at the box office from higher ticket prices, hopefully, they’ll instead go to the trouble of actually filming with 3D cameras, to begin with!
I do sometimes think that the movie studios thought of 3D movies in cinemas as copy protection on their new releases, they know a lot of people will pay a premium for it and right now it’s not an experience that can be replicated by simply downloading a pirate copy to view on their small screen laptop, I wonder if that will change as the rather fast introduction of 3DTV (the next step up from the fairly recent HDTVs) gets into people’s homes?

Since Google introduced Android to the world with the release of the 
When you live in a world filled with expensive gadgets and gizmos, you’re going to want to protect that shiny new hi-tech gadget investment of yours! The iPhone is by far the most popular smartphone on the planet, but even the folks from Cupertino can’t protect your phone from the everyday beatings it will undoubtedly endure.
Google’s new ‘superphone’, the Nexus One, has been the topic of many conversations since its release a day before CES began in January. Released subsidised in the US, and also available unlocked to the UK, Singapore and Hong Kong from Google directly or you can get it on contract with Vodafone UK, it comes packed with a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 512MB RAM and a 5MP camera (more on that later on).
Pretty much since the mouse and keyboard were put into mainstream use people have been looking for alternative ways for input that would be more flexible, efficient or fun. As of yet they’ve all pretty much failed (head tracker anyone?) but perhaps the latest idea will slowly start to slip into general use, the touchscreen interface – and here it is implemented in the Sony Vaio L Series.
So with the Apple iPad having finally been confirmed, anyone and everyone has been having their say on various tech blogs and sites around the web. So what sort of reception has the supposed blockbuster device had over the past couple of hours? Have Apple blown our minds again? Or have they finally dropped the ball?
Last week I bought myself an Apple Mac Mini (late 2009 model) and after a few mishaps regarding video adapters, I finally got it up and running towards the end of the week. Needless to say I was growing ever more impatient as it was sat on my desk doing little more than collecting dust and awaiting the arrival of the correct adapter.
In the latter end of 2009 Sony Ericsson released the latest ‘flagship’ phone which was shown to the world with much gusto and promise, helped by a fairly universal advertising campaign (the one with the brightly coloured space hoppers) and it certainly looked like it could be very successful not only over the Christmas spending spree, but into the new year as well.
Here at Zath, we’re big fans of hi-tech gadgets, computing, gaming and technology in general, so when the chance to go along to a live show and take a look at some great bits of technology kit comes along, then we want to be there – as seen by our attendance at the Gadget Show Live 2009 event last April and the
