The Eee Pad (yes that’s the tablet PC one, not the eReader), more specifically the EP101TC was originally planned by ASUS to run Windows Embedded Compact 7, however it has emerged today that the Taiwanese manufacturer is dropping the Microsoft OS in favour of the latest build of Google’s Android 2.2 platform, ‘Froyo’.

Now, whether or not that Android is a favourable OS for a tablet PC is an extremely hot topic at the moment, but suffice it to say, ASUS is sitting in favour of Google on this one and intend to show off the Android-powered Eee Pad tablet at CES 2011, with it retailing shortly after.

Well, this is certainly an interesting way to end the day! Apple rumours site Apple.pro has leaked a small, Apple iPhone-styled, touchscreen. What’s interesting about that? You may ask. Well, for starters it’s only 3cm square, which equates to just over an inch.

Normally, when an Apple prototype is leaked, it’s linked to a certain product, such as the iPhone 4 or the unibody aluminium MacBook Air or Pro laptops. However, no one knows what’s in store for this small device, although we bloggers do love to speculate…

Something that has become an increasingly large part of peoples’ monthly expenditure is their mobile phone, and as its use becomes more frequent and contracts become increasingly longer, people are starting to spend more and more…especially when it comes to the latest must-have smartphones such as the iPhone 4 and the HTC Desire – however as a recent survey shows, when people consider their actual tariff usage, they could well be wasting a lot of money.

Whilst the 2000 people that Top10.com surveyed is hardly a massive number, the information gained makes for very interesting reading and could well (as will the EU roaming charges directive which I will look at later) save you money.

Due to the nature of the Apple iPad’s impressive touch-screen display, up until now, it has been impossible to do any real freehand drawing on the device, as its display isn’t pressure-sensitive. However, thanks to the guys at Ten One Design and their incredible iPad software development, by using their Pogo Touchscreen Stylus they have enabled such a feature and intend to share it with developers around the world.

So OK it is never going to be in the same bracket as the likes of the Wacom Graphics Tablet range, but never the less this is a fun, if not necessary inclusion in the development of apps allowing users a lot more freedom in the way they interact with the iPad with a pressure-sensitive drawing tool.

Apple’s iPad has been available to consumers for a couple of months now, selling as many millions on a global scale. These figures alone give us some indication of the initial success the device has brought to the Cupertino giants.

However, Europe’s largest e-commerce advertising platform, and one-stop shopping service Kelkoo, have produced some of their own facts and figures revealing what people really think when quizzed about the undoubtedly, revolutionary device which act as an interesting follow-up to our previous “Apple iPad – Do We Need A Tablet Device?” article – you perhaps don’t “need” one as you could either use your smartphone or netbook instead, but do people “want” an iPad?

The first statistic is a simple one, but actually enlightening. After it’s initially frosty reception from consumers following the initial Apple iPad announcement (which many complained about the name itself as well) and once the dust had settled perhaps, an incredible 82% of people asked declared they believed the iPad would be a roaring success with consumers far and wide. So that begs the question, what is it that people like about it, and what do they like about Apple as a whole?
