Filehippo Updater

The software download site filehippo.com has released a small program called Filehippo Updater which is a standalone .exe file and as such requires no installation and as such could be kept on a memory stick.

When you run the Filehippo Updater file, it then scans your computer for installed programs and brings up a webpage telling you if there are newer versions available, then all you have to do is click on the displayed ‘green arrow’ link and it will download the update program install file for you to then update your software with.

Filehippo Updater is currently only in beta, so will no doubt get more features added to it as it is developed, but so far it’s looking very useful to me and I’ve added it to my memory stick.

When I first ran Filehippo Updater I found that I had 14 programs that were out of date - and I always thought I was quite good at keeping up to date with new versions!
