As a student, organisation is key when you’re dealing with multiple assignments from multiple classes all due on multiple days. I’ve never been very good at organising myself with a physical planner, so I thought I’d try out the high-tech route when I saw iStudiez Pro in the Mac App Store.
iStudiez has been an iOS app for a while, so to see it available for the Mac is great. The question is can it help you stay organised for school, or is it just another piece of software getting in the way of your productivity?
iStudiez Pro is split up in to 3 main sections: Overview, Assignments and Planner. In the overview section, you can take a look at your class schedule for the day, and any assignments that are due. The interface looks really great here, and is a rare example of a life-like user interface looking great in an application. Your virtual planner shows you any classes you have on the left page, with any due assignments being shown on the right. You can also take a look at the weekly view if you want to see what classes you have in the week at a glance.
The assignments tab is fairly self-explanatory; all of the assignments that you have yet to complete are listed here, and you can order them by subject or priority. You can add new assignments easily by clicking on the add button, which blanks out the form on the right hand side of the window allowing you to enter all of the details regarding the assignment, and give it a due date as well as a priority.
You can flick between the ‘current’ and ‘completed’ tabs as well, which allow you to take a look at any outstanding assignments that you need to complete, and assignments that you have already completed.
As well as viewing classes in the planner, you can also view your exam timetable as well. If you have a number of exams to track, like most students do, then this is another invaluable feature to have, as putting items such as exams in your iCal makes it so easy for them to get lost in the middle of all your other appointments and classes.
iStudiez Pro is one of the best looking, stable and fully functional applications I’ve ever had the pleasure of using on a Mac, and it is an absolutely invaluable tool to any student wanting to stay organised in style. If you have the iPhone version of iStudiez, you can even use cloud sync to sync all of your assignments wirelessly! It’s available on the Mac App Store, so go get it and let us know what you think!
