Cable management is most probably one of the worst tasks I have to cope with on a daily basis. Looking at the desk I’m working on whilst typing this post I can see 6 cables straight away, which makes for one hell of a spaghetti junction.
Admittedly, cable mess is going to build up on a working day but I still like to keep things as organised as I can and we’ve seen previously, items such as the Cable Drops can help with that.
However, recently I decided to finally invest in a few little gizmos that would help me better manage my workspace. One of these purchases was a set of the Bluelounge CableClip Holders, which allow you to wrap around your cables and easily store them so you aren’t left with a plethora of cables, not knowing which one’s which.
The CableClips come in three different sizes: small, medium and large. For $9.99, you can get yourself 6 small clips, 4 medium sized ones or two large. I chose to get both a pack of small and medium. Shipping took around a week from the USA, which isn’t at all bad considering I opted for the standard postage option.
The clips themselves are incredibly simple, with a rubber like material moulded into shape to hold a cable without it falling out of the sides. The concept is certainly simple, and definitely one of those “why didn’t I think of that?” moments. The smaller clips come in both green and brown, with the pack split half and half between the colours. The medium clips are coloured in orange and brown, so you haven’t got an awful lot of variation when it comes to colour coding cables – you’re stuck with the colour which Bluelounge decides it wants to create its cables in.
If you’re considering storing some larger length cables, then you will probably want to opt for the medium sized clips. My Amazon Kindle‘s USB cable, for example, wouldn’t even get close to fitting around a small one, so getting the medium size too was definitely a good call on my part.
For many people, the Bluelounge CableClips may seem like overkill, after all, can’t you just knot a cable in itself to store it, or throw it in a box with god knows how many others and dig it out when you need it? Well you can, but if you’re the kind of user that has a lot of cables lying around and wants to be able to quickly access ones that you need, the CableClip may just make you that little bit more productive and keep your workspace more manageable during the day.
If you want to check out the Bluelounge CableClips for yourself, you can get them from head on over to Firebox. All packs are priced at £9.99, with multiple shipping options available if you decide to buy.
