Xbox 360 Full-Body Motion Controller (Project Natal)
With Nintendo showing off Wii Motion Plus and Sony with their rumoured PS3 Motion Sensor controller at E3 this year, Microsoft were sure to put themselves into the mix in the next step in gameplay with the Full-Body Motion Sensor.
The Full-Body Motion – Project Natal will use a sensor bar, so you won’t need to buy an additional controller to get the benefits of this new technology. There have been a few people thinking this has been made up, but it apparently showed its face, in some way, at CES back in 2008.
It was another company called 3DV Systems who showed off the full-body motion sensor which they called ZCam and now Microsoft has thrown some money at this technology which is then most likely be used for the Xbox 360.
There’s no more informationas yet on how this will actually work or with what type of game Microsoft are developing this for, so keep your eyes peeled on E3 2009 for more news – which we’ll be covering here on Zath as things happen. It could turn out to be quite a “moving event” this year!
Let us know what you think about the apparent boom in motion sensor technology for the gaming giants in the comments below, is this the way forward? Or has the novelty of this type of mainstream gameplay run it’s course with the possibility of the success of the Wii drying up?
UPDATE: Microsoft’s full-body motion system has been unveiled at E3 – they’re calling it Xbox Project Natal and as a motion control system, it looks great! Check it out and let us know what you think to it!
