Windows Phone ‘Mango’ Starts To Roll Out to a Lucky FewWritten by Rob Nichols on September 27, 2011 · Filed under Software, Tech
It seems an insufferably long time since I finally managed to install the ‘NoDo’ update onto my Windows Phone, after as many problems as you’ve got time for, but now it’s time for another update to Windows Phone and this one brings a lot more to the table than just something as trivial as copy & paste.
Mango is bringing with it a host of new features, topping 200 according to Microsoft, though it’s likely many are mere bug fixes. Nonetheless, Twitter and Facebook chat integration to the People hub will be welcome to the socialites amongst us, and not to mention multitasking, which is an invaluable feature to any smartphone these days it seems, and Microsoft appears to have done as good a job as any in implementing it, though I’ll get back to you on that once I have it here on my handset.
And getting it only my handset is exactly what this little notice is all about. You see, Microsoft has begun to roll out the update to a selection of devices as of today, and it’ll be interesting to see how it copes with the load on this one, after the catastrophe that was ‘NoDo’.
This might also pave the way for a new generation of hardware in the run up to the Christmas season. We’ve already seen a couple of new faces bearing Windows Phone, such as HTC’s Radar and Titan devices, but I’m sure there will be more to come.
In the meantime, however, just drop us a comment telling us just how excited you are for Mango, and/or as soon as you receive the update to your Windows Phone, should you own one.
