Windows Mobile iPhone Theme Update
A little while ago I wrote about the fact that you can get a Windows Mobile iPhone theme for your Microsoft-based smartphone, since then I’ve been running the updated version of this software on my HTC Tytn II and thought I’d let you know how I was finding it to use on a day-to-day basis.
First of all, I should say that the version I got was actually the updated Windows Mobile iPhone theme which meant that it also now has additional features which further improve upon the original version.
Installing the theme onto my Windows Mobile was surprisingly simple, all I had to do was install the Wisbar Desktop software (which is what gives the additional iPhone-style functionality and theme design) and then install the actual iPhone theme onto my HTC Tytn II following the installation instructions included with the download.
The big thing for me in this updated Windows Mobile iPhone theme is the fact that it now gives you a “Sliding Screen” which can be controlled by making finger gestures across the screen – very iPhone-like!
This functionality is provided by the updated ‘theme platform software’ (Wisbar Desktop) that the iPhone theme sits upon meaning that one of the major new features is that you can now slide the screen to the left and right (much like the iPhone interface) to bring up further screens of icons and give you more customisation options in terms of how you use the iPhone front-end to simplify the navigation on your Window Mobile smartphone.
For example, I put shortcuts to all the applications that I use most of all on the front or ‘middle’ screen (such as SMS, ceTwit, Google Maps, Weather, Calculator, Tasks and Profiles) with shortcuts to settings and lesser used applications onto the left and right ‘sliding screens’ which are easily accessed using the finger gesture page switching.
Overall, I would say that for the cost of the theme software and the actual $9.95 Windows Mobile iPhone theme is good value for what is a very well put together theme which looks professional and compares favourably to an actual iPhone – I should know as I’ve recently got one, but also still use my HTC Tytn II and like the consistent iPhone style front-end user interface I have with both smartphones.
The Windows Mobile iPhone Theme includes the following:
- Finger Gesture Page Switching
- iPhone Weather
- iPhone Icons
- iPhone Calculator
- iPhone Sounds
- iPhone Dialpad
- iPhone Music Player & Alarms
