What’s in Your Gadget Bag?

This question has been answered over at Connected Internet and Bill2Me and thought it I might answer it myself here. I have lots of gadgets, but which gadgets do I carry around on a daily basis?

Well it depends what I’m doing and where I’m going, but here’s a fairly typical list:

  1. Orange SPV E650 mobile phone – this has only just replaced my 2.5 year old SPV C500 smartphone, which served me well until now. The C500 was good for things such as calling, texting, checking email/the Internet (all be it rather slowly), playing mp3s, and watching videos. The E650 does all this, but throws in more new features like wireless network connectivity and a QWERTY keyboard!
  2. 4Gb iPod Mini – I bought this off my brother about 6 months ago, so it was fairly cheap and I find the 4Gb size to be more than adequate for playing my favourite songs – most of the time I use it with the FM transmitter in the car which means I get to listen to music without adverts (unlike the radio) and don’t need to keep swapping CDs anymore!
  3. 1Gb Corsair USB Memory Stick – I’ve had this for over 2 years now and keep a whole host of portable applications and program/driver installs on it for when I’m out an about, it’s especially useful when I’m doing some IT consultancy and fixing somebody’s computer. Oh yes and this memory stick is rubberised! – So it’s still in one piece unlike a lot of other memory sticks that fall to pieces very quickly.
  4. Sony Vaio Laptop – this is over a year old now and it’s not the most high performance laptop, but it does a perfectly good job of giving wireless internet connectivity and playing DVDs when away from home as well as taking it along to my IT jobs to test things out and such.
  5. Seiko Kinetic Watch – it’s not a hugely technological gadget since it’s just an analogue style timepiece, but the fact I’ll never have to change batteries since it charges itself by movement is pretty cool – you never know when you’ll end up going back in time to when batteries haven’t been invented! ;)

What essential gadgets do you carry around with you?

Good question. For me I’d have to put them in this order.

    1. My Desktop – honestly, nothing has replaced it. I’m not a laptop kind of guy, I need a desk with a large screen and all the power that comes with it.

    2. HTC Touch – does the job for mobile browsing and every other function I might possibly need, including listening to XM Radio and MP3s. Been really happy with it.

    3. iRobot Roomba – best purchase I’ve made in a long time. A vacuuming robot, how could anyone go wrong?

    That’s really it for me!

I know what you mean Jerad, I spend most of my computing time on my desktop pc, much better than a cramped laptop, but they are good enough when out and about.

I’m glad to see you’re another happy user of HTC mobiles – they don’t get enough coverage in my opinion, I might have to write another post about them soon.

Sounds like the vacuum is like the automatic lawn mower I saw years ago, but I hate vacuuming full stop, so will have to take a look at the iRobot Roomba!
