webOS users, check your device for an update! You’ll probably find webOS version 1.4.5 waiting for you, which on the surface may not seem very exciting. However, if you happen to own a certain Palm Pixi, you can look forward to some 3D gaming support, as the update has provided the device with full PDK (that’s Plug-In Development Kit) support.
If you’re a Palm Pre owner on O2, you’ll probably agree that this update isn’t huge – after all, you’ve had 3D gaming for a good few months already – but hey, an update is still exciting news, right?
PDK support for the Pixi aside, you won’t be surprised to hear that the update includes some minor bug fixes as well.
According to Palm’s release notes, it fixes a ‘rare problem so that podcasts now download correctly’. In addition to this, ‘if a user enters text in a field on certain websites, the screen focus now remains on the text being entered’. Finally, some security issues have also been rectified too.
If you’re using either a Palm Pre or a Pixi here in the UK, let us know if the update is available to download in the comments! Does it make a difference to your use of you Palm smartphone? Are you hoping to see more updates now that Palm has been bought by HP – presumably the Palm webOS now has a brighter future for further development?
