Viigo Beta 3 Download (Project Tango)

The Viigo beta 3 download is now available and I must say that it appears to have really moved on and developed well since I last looked at it a few months ago when Viigo was merely a mobile phone news reader application for your mobile phone.

The RSS news feeds have been present for sometime in the various releases of Viigo, so this is somewhat old-hat now, but by subscribing to the news feed of your favourites websites, you’re then able to read the latest updates in an easily accessible format. No more awkward and time-consuming navigation using a clunky mobile phone internet browser for you!

The latest build of Viigo now has several advancements and new features in addition to the previous standard features of being able to check your RSS news feed:

• Audio feeds/podcasts
• Weather
• Sports scores coverage
• Travel information
• Local interest
• Stock market tracking
• Specialist Coverage of major events such as the Olympics and the US Election

The addition of Viigo now handling audio podcast subscriptions is a real move forward in my opinion. It means you can have your favourite podcasts downloaded by Viigo and listen to them wherever you are without the need to carry a separate iPod around with you or to contend with the hassle of downloading files on your computer and then transferring them to your mobile phone.

The sports coverage seems to be well handled and it allows to you keep track of your sports results, however there is a definite focus on North American sports as the only sports feed that interested me was the Formula 1 option. I’d have thought now given the global prominence of football (soccer), specifically the English Premier League, that those live football score results would have been included – here’s hoping they appear soon in a future update.

It looks as though as more features are being added to Viigo (Project Tango), it would appear that it’s now becoming more of a platform in itself where widgets/applications can run on to provide you with various types of information in a mash-up of sorts.

Overall, I’d say that if you have a Windows Mobile or Blackberry mobile phone, then you should certainly take a look at this free Viigo beta 3 download and see how it could benefit you too.
