Writer’s Strike Delay TV Shows
The WGA (Writer’s Guild of America) strike has been going on a while now and the effects are starting to show for us fans of the top American TV Shows and since most shows are now running out of scripts – production is coming to a standstill.
Most of my TV viewing consists of US TV Shows, so with it looking like we’ll definitely end up with episodes being delayed at best – this year could be a barren year for my TV viewing!
So what do the writer’s of (the brilliant) US TV show “The Office” do when they are not writing, but actually on strike, take a look below. I’ve read a few articles about this on news sites, but this certainly puts what’s happening into context with familiar faces from the show!
Examples of the status of some of my favourites shows are:
- 24’s start date in January has been postponed until they can be shown as normal with no breaks in transmission.
- Heroes has had two endings shot for episode 11, one being a season finale, in case the second season only ends up with 11 episodes.
- Lost I suppose is actually looking pretty good right now, since they’re only making 16 episodes this season, they’ve got 8 episodes ready to air so far according to ComingSoon.net.
We could ultimately end up with seasons with reduced numbers of episodes with the stories and plot lines not being fully covered, it’s going to be an “interesting” year as a viewer. You can check the latest status of your favourite shows over at DigitalSpy’s “US Strike Show Status”.
We’ll just have to wait and see how it all turns out, what do you think about the strike? Which shows will you miss the most?

Hi there! Thanks for leaving a comment at ReapMoneyOnline. Hmnnn, we’ve been watching our favorite shows, Lost particularly, and we’re not aware of anything amiss. SO we guess we’ll be seeing some reruns soon. Thanks.

I have seen it in news here in our country about this Hollywood writers strikes. As long as they thought what they are fighting for is for the welfare of everyone in general then I will also support this advocacy.

Much as I love 24, I’m actually glad that it’s been delayed given that the last series was such a complete abortion. It needs some time off for them to do something new with it.
Since it doesn’t look like they’re doing too much to overhaul it, I’ve been worried that another poor season (arguably the first two are the only really great ones) will do irreparable damage to the show. It’s never been known for keeping touch with reality (mountain lions, anyone?) but the amount of coincidental rubbish going on last year was just ludicrous.
