Timex Nail Watch Brings Digits To Your Digits
As electronics get smaller and smaller, and we come to rely on our gadgets more and more the idea of implanting technology into our body becomes less of a fantasy (or nightmare depending on your point of view) and more of a reality. And although we are not at the stage of mainstream implanted chips yet, this new watch from Timex brings us one step closer.
By combining the nail and the watch (hence the painfully corny title!) Timex have come up with a way of making watches discrete and yet functional. The Timex nail watch sits on your thumb nail, and when you press on the top of this tiny device it lights up showing you the time and date.
Not normally noticeable this little time teller looks like something straight out of a Bond film, that is until you press the ‘control bar’ and watch it light up in one of three colours (blue, pink and, for the even more subtle of you, grey) displaying the time and date.
Whilst this may not seem very ‘amazing’ the sheer tininess of the watch really is impressive, and the fact that they have managed to make it still functional is also a credit to Timex and their collaborators Core77. The main downside is that the watch is disposable, meaning that it will be very expensive in the long run (although we have no prices as of yet) and may well be designed not to stay on your finger for too long.
Having said that if this is successful it surely won’t be long before we see some long lasting nail-watches released, and the step after that is surely towards permanent ones. Just imagine the sure geeky-ness of having a watch implanted in your nail!
