Resident Evil 5 Review (PS3)

Thirteen years ago Capcom revolutionised the survival horror series with one of the scariest games ever made called Resident Evil. Resident Evil 5 is the seventh instalment to the survival horror series. The game stars the original character from the first game, Chris Redfield, and a new character, Sheva Alomar. Resident Evil 5 is a reinvention of Resident Evil 4 with extra abilities and a cooperative mode allowing you to play the game with a friend.
The objective of the game is to stop a deal involving biological weapons going down in Africa. The storyline closes out Chris Redfield’s history and explains what has happened to him since the mansion incident in Resident Evil 1. This is specifically designed for people that have been playing the previous Resident Evil’s as the story keeps going back to the past events.

Halloween is nearly upon us again, that time of year for “ghoulies and ghosties and long-legged beasties and things that go bump in the night”. This year, instead of just throwing a sheet over your head and calling yourself Casper, why not make an effort with some nifty Halloween gadgets, gizmos and trinkets.
Skelly Bones
Based on the traditional Jenga stacking game, the idea of Skelly Bones is to build a tower of bones, then remove them one at a time without making the whole thing collapse. It’s a simple but enduring game, and this version should prove a lot of fun after a few Bloody Marys or pints of Hobgoblin.

Oh yeah, there are more hordes of zombies coming! ‘Left 4 Dead 2’ has been announced at E3 2009, the sequel to Valve’s hit co-operative multiplayer game of 2008 in which you play your way through several zombie movie style scenarios with up to 3 of your friends to back you up…or to leave you for dead quite literally! As was the case with a so-called friend of mine who legged it to safety on a boat whiles the rest of us got sacrificed in a farmhouse! Not that I’m bitter or anything…in being Left 4 Dead too…honest!

Left 4 Dead? – A first person shooter game that does just that, it leaves you for dead as you to play through a zombie apocalypse movie with your friends as one of four survivors! – Why hasn’t this been done before now?
I’ve liked the Source game engine ever since I first played Half Life 2 and it’s good to see Valve continuing to develop it as they release more games using it such as the episodic updates to Half Life – but I also like that they are creating some very different types of games using it like Portal and now we’ve got another in the form of Left 4 Dead.
