Sony Ericsson Vivaz Mobile Phone Announced
January 26, 2010
Following the recent release on the Sony Ericsson Satio which we had the pleasure of testing here at Zath, they have announced the second instalment of their new family of ‘communication entertainment’ phones which promises to not only match, but exceed the standard set by its predecessor: the Sony Ericsson Vivaz.
Even if you didn’t know beforehand that the two mobile phones were ‘related’ just looking at the two next to each other kind of gives it away as the Vivaz looks remarkably like a slimmed down, brighter version of the comparatively blocky Satio.
This isn’t all that surprising as ‘looks’ seem to be one of the main two selling points of the Vivaz, and despite the fact that really it looks nothing like the shape of ‘the human body’ (which is what the publicity excitedly claims) the new design philosophy of ‘delivering beauty inside and out’ has succeeded as it really does look quite nice!

November 23, 2009
Hold back the vomit; it’s time for Real Player SP!
If you’re like me, something happened in your teenage years, when you lost your mind through a combination of hormones and white cider, and decided that it would be a good idea to install Real Player on your computer.
Back in the age of Netscape, when .rm (and all the other) files were competing equally with every other format out there, it was quite a reasonable, even necessary thing to have Real Player installed. Of course, that was then and this is now. With the advent of VLC Media Player and similar cross-platform products, Real’s stranglehold over the .rm genus of increasingly insignificant file types has all but disappeared.

November 1, 2009
You’ve signed up with Google Wave, logged in and suddenly you’re faced with an interface that isn’t particularly intuitive. The features are quite simple to use, but do require a bit of a learning curve. So, if you’re scratching your head trying to figure out how to send your first wave (message), here’s how, and to make it even more useful, I’ll also tell you how to embed a YouTube video into it.
How To Create A New Wave
At the top of the centre panel you’ll see a button marked ‘New Wave’. (There’s is also a link in the panel on the right but that will only be visible if you don’t have any waves open.) Click the button and an input box will open up on the right.

October 7, 2009
Look at a picture of a Windows 95 desktop and a Windows 7 desktop. What’s changed? You may say they look entirely different with flashy themes and an orb in place of the old beige taskbar and start button, but when you see past the themes and modern graphics, you’re left with the same file management system on your desktop that you were using almost 15 years ago! The minimum system requirements for Windows 95 included a whopping 4MB of memory, 50MB of HDD space and a 386DX processor, which could be clocked up to an incredible 40MHz. See where I’m going with this? Needless to say, hardware’s advancing at such a rate, yet we’re still using a 2D desktop with limited functionality.
Improve Your Memory With Facebook And Gaming!
September 8, 2009
The stereotypical gamer is not something that many (if any) people strive to achieve: sitting alone in their dirty rooms, eyes straining through the darkness to their screen whilst slowly eating their way through the pile of ready meals that line their couch; fortunately this is far from accurate in 99.99% per cent of cases, and as it turns out the benefits may be more profound than we’d previously thought.
This follows studies by Psychologist Dr Tracy Alloway of Stirling University assessing the effects of various games and websites (such as Twitter, Youtube and Facebook) on the “working memory”, and the results of these are pretty interesting.

July 23, 2009
Pocket-sized video recorders are becoming increasingly popular, most of the time it means taking short and very basic clips using your mobile phone, but surely there must be a better solution, a pocket-sized high definition solution? Well there are a few options out there, but one of the best is the Flip Ultra HD!
The Flip Ultra HD is a pocket-sized video camera that shoots high definition (720p) videos at the touch of a button – quite literally! Want to capture a moment as it’s happening? Just whip it out of your pocket and press the big red button to start recording and point at the action!

July 4, 2009
The Google Street View interface has recently had some “Smart Navigation” improvements made to it which have certainly been a welcome addition to the service as beforehand as good as we thought it was here at Zath, it could still get a little annoying to use for any extended length of time.
YouTube Upload Limits Increased
July 3, 2009
You don’t need me to tell you how big YouTube is – and with millions of hours worth of videos being uploaded every day it’s only getting bigger, and with the relatively recent introduction of high definition (HD) videos the file sizes are also following the trend of increasing in side.
So all those of you out there that like to use your HD recording ability and sharing it with the world will be glad to know that YouTube have decided to increase their upload limit allowing people to upload up to 2GB worth of video (doubling the previous 1GB maximum figure).

June 29, 2009
Over the last few months we have followed trial of the “Pirate Bay Four” and seen how, although they did ultimately find them guilty, it has brought shame on the Swedish judicial system after a series of claims questioning the neutrality of the judges amid the already lengthy and convoluted trial.
As such it is unsurprising that (as we predicted) the story is back again, and with a few more variables just for good measure. Of course this has a lot to do with the fact that it is in the interest of the Pirate Bay founders to keep the story on the agenda, and I’m sure the timing of “The Video Bay” release (which I will cover later) is not coincidental.
