LG Plasma TVs
October 3, 2008
The latest range of LG Plasma TV were recently unveiled at an LG Plasma TV bloggers’ event at Fulham FC’s Craven Cottage football ground (LG are their sponsor).
There were three new models on show at the event and these were as follows:
- LG 32PG6000 (720p) - this is the world’s first production 32? Plasma, normally plasmas are much larger, this would be great if you have a smallish room to fill.
- LG 50PG6900 (1080p) - this 50″ model features a dual-tuner Freeview+ Plasma with built-in 160GB PVR - very useful indeed!
- LG 50PG70000 (1080p) - this 50″ beast is the top-of-the-line Plasma with features such as Bluetooth connectivity.
When it comes to home cinema displays - you generally need to make a choice between a high definition LCD or plasma TV. I always spend a lot of time researching what is currently considered the best in terms of quality at my set price point to make sure I get the best deal.

September 20, 2008
Do you remember the last time I wrote about JohnCow? He was the winner in a contest against Garry Conn in which they were both creating niche blogging websites to sell, the site which brought in the highest price would be declared the winner.
Would you like to have your own website? Do you like writing? Do you want to blog? First of all, you need to target what actually interests you to start with, that makes the actual writing so much easier to do!

September 18, 2008
Microsoft have recently released some new adverts in the form of some funny TV commercials featuring Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld. Now anyone would think they are really trying to capture the spirit of the Seinfeld show, they seem as though they are “ads about nothing”, even stranger given that Microsoft have historically done very little in terms of advertising, so actually spending money for very little is rather odd.
Microsoft are paying approximately $300 million for this funny TV commercial ad campaign (supposedly around $20million of that is going to Jerry Seinfeld himself), so they presumably hope that they will do something to hit back at the Apple ads over recent years that compare PC and Macs and the ‘trouncing’ they have received because of them.

August 14, 2008
The Dell Studio Hybrid is the latest new Dell product range being released - I got to take a sneak-peek at it at the recent Dell Studio Laptop launch at Silverstone, so here’s what I thought to it…
Do you still have one of those large, noisy, beige boxes of a computer sat on your desk? Do you like the idea of minimalist computing like you often see with Apple Macs? The Studio Hybrid is a new breed of computer from Dell.
The Dell Hybrid is a highly compact desktop computer which Dell has really tried to make as green as possible – in the environmental sense at least, the actual case features an interchangeable ‘shell’ casing that comes in a variety of colours see-through colours as well as a bamboo casing which gives it a real distinctive look - it certainly fits well in with their design-conscious Dell Studio Laptop range.

August 11, 2008
As a build up to the new season of Heroes and following the recent Heroes season 3 trailer, there’s been some “Heroes Webisodes” produced which are basically mini web episodes.
From the looks of these videos so far, they are providing some background to the new characters in the show for season 3. Obviously these are only a few minutes long, so it’s different from watching a full-length TV episode, but these short videos certainly make for a great teaser of what might be happening in the new season!

August 10, 2008
Opera recently released a new beta of their mobile phone internet browser called Opera Mobile 9.5 replacing their current Opera Mini browser which costs around £15.
I’ve had a HTC Tytn II Windows Mobile based smartphone for around 3 months now and I find it’s really useful being able to install free applications such as Google Maps and Google Mail which work great. However, my Internet browsing has been severely limited, mainly due to the poor performance of Internet Explorer Mobile which has real difficultly in displaying most of the websites that I visit on daily basis.
Couple this with all the media coverage surrounding the browsing abilities of the iPhone 3G and you can start to feel like you’re missing out, especially when you’ve got a data plan not being used that’s burning a hole in your pocket so to speak!
Continue reading »Tech Gamer: Belief and Betrayal
July 24, 2008
Belief and Betrayal is a ‘Point and Click Adventure game’ – something you see a lot less of these days in the age of photo-realistic graphics and free-roaming open-ended game worlds. The ‘Point and Click Adventure’ was a type of game which saw real success back in the 90s - those were the days of great games like Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, Broken Sword – unfortunately here’s where the likeness ends!
Belief and Betrayal states on the box “Unveil dark secrets that could destroy humanity” and “Become enthralled in a secretive and mysterious world of power and intrigue; truth and conspiracy” – which I initially thought, “this sounds an awful lot like the Da Vinci Code, but it might be good all the same”, I think it’s fair to say the developers have taken some inspiration from it!
I installed the game – it took a while, so I went away and make a hot beverage, came back to find it was still installing – it eventually finished, I took this to be a good sign - there must be lots of high quality graphics and audio to make for a really polished game experience. Unfortunately once I loaded the game up I found that this certainly wasn’t the case!

April 8, 2007
The Xbox 360 ‘dashboard’ interface normally gets updated with new features and fixes every 6 months, the next one is scheduled for 7th May 2007 and is rumoured to include the following:
- Instead of just showing ‘Play Game’ at the bottom of the screeen, it will show which disc you currently have in the drive - the number of times I’ve opened the drive or loaded up a disc just to see what’s in the drive - now that’s progress!
- Windows Live (MSN) Messenger functionality can be added to your Xbox Live account allowing you to communicate with your friends while on your Xbox - although it takes me forever to type out messages with my Xbox controller as it is, so you’d hope voice chat was an option!
- Improved Achievements functionality.
- Xbox Live Marketplace to get it’s own ‘blade’, presumably to make it easier for us to spend our cash on stuff!
- Option to put your Xbox in low power mode for downloading which then shuts down when complete - again another good idea given I often leave it on over night.
Grand Theft Auto 4 Trailer Provides Hints of Game Content
April 1, 2007
Well the countdown I mentioned in one of my first posts is now over! The trailer for GTA4, the first next-gen Grand Theft Auto game is out and as expected it is looking rather good with one hell of a face lift over the previous generation - the whole trailer is made from in-game footage apparantly!
You can see the high quality trailer by paying a visit to the GTA4 website or a lower quality one below:
