I’m a PC! Are you a PC?

October 8, 2008

windows-vista-logoI’m a PC! Well I use a Windows PC anyway. After seeing Microsoft’s first couple of “funny TV commercials” starring the “comedic” double-act of Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld in which in true Seinfeld-style, they appeared to be ‘adverts about nothing’, you may have been scratching your head about all the potential hidden meanings!

However, perhaps the marketing worked, because at least they made people talk about Microsoft again and not in a Vista-bashing kind of way neither. The third TV advert now seems to have gone more mainstream with only a quick one-liner from Bill Gates and no appearance at all from Jerry Seinfeld – although Microsoft have said that he will return in future adverts.

Want to Start Blogging?…& A John Cow TV Tragedy

September 20, 2008

john-cow-tv-logoDo you remember the last time I wrote about JohnCow? He was the winner in a contest against Garry Conn in which they were both creating niche blogging websites to sell, the site which brought in the highest price would be declared the winner.

Would you like to have your own website? Do you like writing? Do you want to blog? First of all, you need to target what actually interests you to start with, that makes the actual writing so much easier to do!

Funny TV Commercials for Microsoft?

September 18, 2008

windows-vista-logoMicrosoft have recently released some new adverts in the form of some funny TV commercials featuring Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld. Now anyone would think they are really trying to capture the spirit of the Seinfeld show, they seem as though they are “ads about nothing”, even stranger given that Microsoft have historically done very little in terms of advertising, so actually spending money for very little is rather odd.

Microsoft are paying approximately $300 million for this funny TV commercial ad campaign (supposedly around $20million of that is going to Jerry Seinfeld himself), so they presumably hope that they will do something to hit back at the Apple ads over recent years that compare PC and Macs and the ‘trouncing’ they have received because of them.

Heroes Webisodes

August 11, 2008

heroes-logoAs a build up to the new season of Heroes and following the recent Heroes season 3 trailer, there’s been some “Heroes Webisodes” produced which are basically mini web episodes.

From the looks of these videos so far, they are providing some background to the new characters in the show for season 3. Obviously these are only a few minutes long, so it’s different from watching a full-length TV episode, but these short videos certainly make for a great teaser of what might be happening in the new season!

Opera Mobile 9.5 Beta - Free!

August 10, 2008

opera-browser-logoOpera recently released a new beta of their mobile phone internet browser called Opera Mobile 9.5 replacing their current Opera Mini browser which costs around £15.

I’ve had a HTC Tytn II Windows Mobile based smartphone for around 3 months now and I find it’s really useful being able to install free applications such as Google Maps and Google Mail which work great. However, my Internet browsing has been severely limited, mainly due to the poor performance of Internet Explorer Mobile which has real difficultly in displaying most of the websites that I visit on daily basis.

Couple this with all the media coverage surrounding the browsing abilities of the iPhone 3G and you can start to feel like you’re missing out, especially when you’ve got a data plan not being used that’s burning a hole in your pocket so to speak!

Football Manager? - I Will Survive!

July 2, 2008

football-manager-2008-logoWhen you make the commitment to take up the job as a Football Manager, it is a very time consuming endeavour as you move all your pieces (players) into and out of place like a hugely complicated game of chess.

It is a (gaming) profession that is fraught with hard work, stress and at some points, huge frustration when things go against you – particularly in the last minute of a football game. If things go well, you won’t be staring the threat of relegation in the face, if you do really well, you may well have to deal with the other problem of just keeping hold of your best players as the bigger clubs circle round you for them.

LG KF600 Review

June 25, 2008

lg-kf600Here is my latest mobile phone handset review, that of the LG KF600 brought to you by a company that is focusing on producing stylish mobile phones that have well implemented and developed features.

Your first impressions of this product is that from looking at how the box is presented - a folding out cube that has clearly been influenced by Apple’s iPod packaging!

The next thing that strikes you once you pick up the handset is the fact that it has two smaller screens rather than one larger one - there’s the main screen, which is purely for standard display purposes and the other one located below it which is for the touchscreen operation is known as the ‘InteractPad’.

LG Viewty KU990 Review

December 22, 2007

The LG Viewty KU990 is the latest “cameraphone” from LG which is the replacement model for the Prada. The LG Viewty is being badged as a cameraphone, that’s the first important point to realise - it’s not a mobile that claims to be a “jack of all trades”, instead it focuses in on being very good at what it does with both still and video camera features.

I’ve been using the LG Viewty KU990 for over a month now, but the first thing that you’ll notice about the LG Viewty is just how great this mobile phone actually looks and feels in your hand – it sits nicely in the hand, not being too big or heavy, on the back it looks like a traditional camera, while the front of it you’re presented with an outstanding 3” touchscreen with just 3 small and discrete actual buttons.

‘Transformers’ Review

July 27, 2007

transformers-posterI was never really into Transformers as a kid. I did watch it every now and then, but never really got into the hype of it all…….I have now!!

This has to be one of the greatest films that I have ever seen. The storyline is a little weak, but you get so excited from the things you see on the big screen that you forget about….er……what was that now!!

The effects are absolutely stunning and some of the best I’ve ever seen! Theres chase scenes, with transformers..well….transforming, from cars to machines which looks awesome!! Theres loads of explosions and fights!! What more can you ask from a Michael Bay film!!
