Playstation Move Announced (PS3 Motion Controller)
March 11, 2010
It’s taken a while for the official name of the Playstation 3 motion controller, ‘wand’, ‘arc’ or whatever else people wanted to call it, but Sony have released the official name for their motion controller as the ‘Playstation Move‘.
The announcement was made at GDC yesterday along with a trailer of the type of games that we’ll be looking at playing to start off with. With true 1:1 motion control, it is said to be more responsive than Nintendo’s Wii Motion Plus controllers which is a bold statement.
I’m looking forward to seeing just how the PS3 Move is and what kind of games will be released for it. The fact we’ll be able to play motion controlled games in HD isn’t really a major factor. What I want is a game that uses Move and to get me really immersed in the action. I’m not one for the gimmicky party titles so I’d like to see some new IP games created for use with Move and see how that pans out.

January 21, 2010
Sony have announced that their new PS3 motion controller, which was due out this Spring, has had it’s release date pushed back to Autumn 2010 for a worldwide release.
The reason it seems as to why this has been delayed is that:
“We have decided to release the Motion Controller in Fall 2010 when we will be able to offer an exciting and varied line-up of software titles that will deliver the new entertainment experience to PS3 users”
So by the sounds of that, it means that companies aren’t getting the games ready on time for the PS3 motion controller’s original release date and it will now go up against Microsoft’s Project Natal release date that will happen around the same time. Will this delay turn out to be a poor move from Sony?

June 4, 2009
After Microsoft announced their impressive Xbox Project Natal, it was Sony’s turn with their PS3 motion sensor controller, and after what I’ve read I feel very…….meh!!
Not that it doesn’t look impressive, but it’s nothing new. It seems exactly the same as Nintendo’s Wii remote and their Wii Motion Plus. Sony are boasting true 1:1 motion control and the video, which you can see below, really does make it look good, but again, it’s nothing new.

May 14, 2009
With E3 on the horizon, rumours are bound to be popping up. This one talks of a motion sensing controller for Sony’s Playstation 3.
There have been reports that someone has seen a working prototype of the Sony motion sensor controller which is set to make an appearance at E3 this year in June.

April 16, 2009
This is Street Fighter…….with big Samurai Swords and other sharp implements…….with a dollop of blood.
Now this isn’t as good as Street Fighter, but still a decent fighter.
The Samurai Shodown Anthology is a game I didn’t think I’d like, but only because I’m not very good at fighting games, a bit like Street Fighter 4 which I’m useless at. But with Samurai Shodown, I jumped straight in and really enjoyed it.

April 12, 2009
Old Skool games always go down a treat, and this ‘SNK Arcade Classics Volume 1‘ title is no exception. All these games were released on the NEO GEO which is a console I never had the pleasure of owning, which is a shame as some of these games are really good.
What I found appealing was how they’ve not just put these games onto a disc and said, here you are, they’ve added little extras into the games to make you play them longer and have a reason for completing them.
Each game awards you with medals for completing certain things in the games. For example, complete a game on easy, medium or hard and you’ll get a medal. Each medal in every game unlocks something new. These extras include things like art work, music to the games, videos of secrets and move lists for the characters in the fighting games.

April 8, 2009
From the growing success of Guitar Hero, Rock Band and Singstar, it should come as no surprise to hear that there is yet another adaptation of the virtual rock world coming to the gaming world.
This time in the form of ‘Ultimate Band’.
From the trailer is looks like a kids version, with High School Musical looking characters and modern day tracks, but nothing like Metallica I wouldn’t have thought, judging by the list I’ve seen on Wikipedia.

February 3, 2009
Super Smash Bros Brawl has been one of the most anticipated games for the Nintendo Wii and now that it has arrived! It’s an amazing game that will please not only Nintendo fans, but new comers to the game. The game is simply every character ever created in Nintendo history brought together in a massive, fast paced, battle royal for victory.
The basis of the game is simple. You fight your enemy and smash them off the screen. The controls system uses only three buttons. One for basic attack, one for special attacks and a block button which rarely gets used! The controls can be customized to suit your game play and all control styles can be used like the Wii remote horizontal, Wii remote and nunchuck and the classic controller. Each fighter has a percentage on screen which increases as you take damage. The higher the percentage the higher risk of being smashed off the screen giving your opponent a score. The character with the highest score at the end of the battle wins the game.

October 8, 2008
Manhunt 2, the sequel to one of the most gruesome games ever made is set to FINALLY hit the UK shores this Halloween!
Manhunt has come under huge pressure because of the graphical content of the game, with people asking questions about whether or not a game with this magnitude of violence is appropriate.
Manhunt is made by Rockstar games, and if you don’t know who they are, what rock have you been hiding under?! Rockstar are the company behind Grand Theft Auto 4, just in case you didn’t know.
