TasteKid Review (How To Find Similar Music, Movies & Books)

January 20, 2010

Tastekid.com is a great website for anyone who is a love of music, movies and/or books and wishes to expand their library or collection with more similar artists, films or authors. I stumbled upon it whilst looking for a site that did exactly this and it was the first hit. To be honest, I have come to trust any site that hits the top of the prestigious Google rankings.

For instance in the case of music, the site is a database of all artists that are similar to the artist you enter in the search box at the top. Anyone who is a user of sites such as eBay or Amazon will know that they regularly suggest items similar to ones you have purchased before. Tastekid works in a similar fashion to this, only with music, movies and books.

Microsoft Releases Expert Tips Widget (Sponsored Post)

December 22, 2009

Microsoft has recently had a real return to form with their successful development and release of Windows 7, that combined with some of their other recent initiatives means that there’s some real vision and lot going on there even though Bill Gates has been gone from the day-to-day running of the company for well over a year now.

Perhaps as a means of showcasing some of things that are currently released or in development, Microsoft UK has released an interactive widget which provides a somewhat different way of giving you an idea of the various aspects of their current technical focus.

Masked Passwords – Security Over Usability?

July 1, 2009

facebook-login-masked-passwordThe masking of passwords is one of those things that we don’t really think about – it’s safe to say that 99.99% of the time you enter passwords on a website the letters/numbers are blanked out with nice stars or circles – surely this helps to promote Internet safety and a way to Get Safe Online?

But isn’t this just common sense? Surely having it as a failsafe in case someone is looking over your shoulder isn’t such a bad idea? Well according to a couple of experts in the field not only are they pointless, but can also be counterproductive with regards to security and are calling for the end of them.

Do You Feel Lucky?

February 11, 2008

Question Mark Key on a KeyboardWell do you feel lucky when you’re here at Zath Games Tech?

I’ve now added a new Wordpress plugin to the site called Random Redirect which has allowed me to add a new button to the navigational buttons at the top of the page.

All you have to do is click the ‘I Feel Lucky!‘ button and you will be presented with a random page from the archives of my previous blog posts – I’m thinking this will be a great way for people to explore some of my older content.

I hope you like this new feature, what do you think to it? If you have any other feedback and suggestions for the site then please let me know!

I Do Follow When You Comment!

April 29, 2007

U Comment, I FollowYou may have noticed the recent ‘U Comment, I Follow’ logo addition to the sidebar of the site, I decided to add this after reading about the ‘Do Follow’ plugin over at Brown Thoughts.

What it essential means is that anyone who makes a comment on one of my posts will get a permanent link back to their website (regardless of whether you get onto the Top Commentators list), this in turn helps their rankings on various systems, such as Google, Technorati etc.

I’ve had the ‘Do Follow’ installed since I started the Zath blog 2 months ago, but until now hadn’t thought to publicise the fact, so feel free to comment in future with the knowledge that you’ll be getting links back to your own site!

UPDATE: Due to issues of spam, I’ve now discontinued this policy regarding comment links which are now no-follow again.

…And So It Begins!

March 3, 2007

Hello all!

As you can see, things have changed a little around here, I’ve moved the website to a “blogging” frontend which should mean I can make updates to the site more easily to keep things more current, plus it should eventually look better design-wise too.

So please bear with me while I get things working again.
