LG Mobile Event (November 2009)

Here at Zath we’ve had the opportunity to attend several LG Mobile events over the past year or two including ones for the launch of the LG Renoir (KC910), the LG Arena (KM900) and the LG Chocolate (BL40), however this time round we were invited to the learn about and play with a bunch of current and upcoming mobile phones from LG.
The event featured several mobile phones, some of which we’d seen before, but others were completely new – we’ll be covering these in more detail in separate articles, but here’s a quick run-down of what we were able to have a closer look at:

Well we’ve only gone and done it again and had our Children’s GPS tracking watch entry voted as Coolest Gadget of the Week for 1st October 2009! Zath truly is a place to come to see some cool hi-tech gadgets!
It’s only a few months since we featured the Amazon Kindle DX here on Zath, which was then submitted as an entry and subsequently won the title of Coolest Gadget of the Week as voted for by the readers of the Coolest Gadgets website.

Is there really a need to tag a child with a GPS watch? Well it seems that every day in the press there’s more news about murderers, rapists and generally bad people and although you’d have a case in saying that a lot of this is just scaremongering, the fact that the streets are more dangerous than they ‘used to be’ is one that you’d struggle to deny.
So parents today are faced with the dilemma of either letting their children out to the mercy of the outside world, or restrict their freedom and keep them under tabs neither of which are in any way beneficial to the children in question… and that’s where the num8 Kids GPS Watch comes in.

As electronics get smaller and smaller, and we come to rely on our gadgets more and more the idea of implanting technology into our body becomes less of a fantasy (or nightmare depending on your point of view) and more of a reality. And although we are not at the stage of mainstream implanted chips yet, this new watch from Timex brings us one step closer.
By combining the nail and the watch (hence the painfully corny title!) Timex have come up with a way of making watches discrete and yet functional. The Timex nail watch sits on your thumb nail, and when you press on the top of this tiny device it lights up showing you the time and date.
