Sony Netbook (Vaio X) Announced

September 2, 2009

sony-vaio-x-netbook-ifaThis week hails the start of the IFA in Berlin, the consumer electronics and home appliances business event that always has something new and exciting to show us, and this year it is courtesy of Sony who have unveiled the much talked about Vaio X. This Sony netbook aims to sail to the top of the already rather convoluted netbook market (of which there is already two variations from themselves in the form of the Sony Vaio W netbook and Sony Vaio P netbook).

Unsurprisingly the Sony Vaio NW range is sleek, subtly curved and available in a range of soft tones (including birch white, walnut brown and rattan silver) all of which have the iconic ‘Vaio’ logo embossed in silver in big letters along the top.

However the most notable thing about the NW range is not its design (as you would probably struggle to distinguish from, well, any other Vaio) but the fact that, according to Sony, it offers ‘entry level’ pricing for a Blu-Ray equipped laptop.

January 18, 2009

sony-netbook-vaio-p-seriesAs you may have read already, netbooks are a big thing and they are attracting some of the biggest names. However Sony have been conspicuous by their absence and there has been much talk as to what is going on behind the walls of Sony HQ, most of it under the assumption that they are planning a venture into the packed netbook market.

So come CES 2009 many people were very excited at the prospect of a Sony Netbook and as they crammed round the stall they got a view of something very interesting. The Sony Vaio P-series, a product which follows the successful line of Vaio products renowned for their quality, and the letter P almost definitely standing for portable. But why the confusion? Well read on!
