Imagine if you will a hypothetical world 10 years in the future where you no longer need to charge your phone, iPod or laptop, they just absorb energy from the air around themselves and convert this into the electricity they need to run.
Admittedly this is more fantasy than reality, but the basic idea is one that Nokia say they have made headway into – and they have the prototype to prove it. By being able to harvest the free energy flying around in our atmosphere (from Wifi, TV and other assorted signals) Nokia plan to be able to convert this into electricity in smartphones in the future, just think, having a smartphone like the Nokia E71 that self-charges!

These USB AA rechargeable batteries have been around for a while now, I’ve not really looked into these before, however I’m now starting to run out of batteries for my various devices and remote controls. So instead of just buying a load more standard AA rechargeable batteries I thought I’d take a look at these to see how they compare.
The USB batteries are pretty useful as rechargeable batteries go – AA batteries that you can flip the top off (positive terminal end) to then reveal a standard USB connector that can be plugged into one of your computer’s USB ports and be re-charged from your computer of choice, be it your desktop or laptop (useful if you’re on the move), plus you could even plug them into your Xbox 360!

How does a Solar Bonsai Tree USB charger work for you as a concept? Well at this stage that is all that it is, so you can’t buy one as yet and the fundamentals such as how much power it produces hasn’t been disclosed.
As somebody who keeps bonsai trees as a hobby, the potential to have an artificial solar bonsai tree sat on my desk charging my USB devices is an idea that really appeals to me!
