Tetris Party Deluxe Announced (Wii/DS)

February 21, 2010

Yet another Tetris game has been announced for release on Nintendo’s Wii and DS, this time called Tetris Party Deluxe and following on from Tetris Party, which I quite enjoyed when I downloaded it as a WiiWare title, Tetris Online Inc. are set to release Tetris Party Deluxe which will build on the previous title adding new modes and features to the game.

There will be six new modes added which will include a game called ‘Bombliss’ and another called ‘vs. Sprint’ that will allow up to four players competing against each other to be the first to complete 40 lines. You can create your own shadow puzzles in an edit mode within ‘Shadow’ and you’ll also be able to fight it out online via the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection as well as local multiplayer games.

Tetris iPhone App Review

August 22, 2009

tetris-iphone-app-logoThere are many new games released every year, but the ones that still prove popular are the old classics. Once you have an iPhone, you start spending your time thinking about a new application you’re after to enhance your iPhone experience. Or, you know… simply give you something to do when you’re bored on the train.

The other week, I downloaded Tetris to give me some true (wait for it) ‘old school’ gaming fun. And, I have to say, it’s a pretty darn hoot if you ask me. The nice thing about the iPhone is the interactivity and the user-interface. A finger is all you need to make most of the functionality on the iPhone and playing Tetris on it is actually better than playing it on the Gameboy. Touching anywhere in the screen makes the tiles move, with simple drag and drop options – as well as tapping on the screen for a rotation. There is a tutorial that pops up before each game to show you how to do this should you need one (which you can also skip).

Zuma Review (PSN)

July 9, 2009

zuma-logo-screenshotThere isn’t really much I can say about a game like Zuma as it’s one of those extremely repetitive, yet addictive games that you can download from the Playstation Network (PSN) and play to kill 20 minutes or so.

The aim of the game is to eliminate all the spheres before they disappear down the hole in the centre of the puzzle. If even one sphere drops, then all of them will and you lose a life and have to start that puzzle again.

Zuma is mix between Beehive Bedlam and Jewel Quest in that you have to match 3 or more of one colour to eliminate the spheres on the puzzle. The earlier stages aren’t really too long as it allows you to get into the swing of the game and how to control your little frog character which you use to fire spheres into the puzzle.

‘Bejeweled 2′ Review (PSN)

May 24, 2009

bejeweled-2-coverI’ve always liked these types of games as they’re easy to just pick up and play, and don’t make you feel annoyed at lack of ammo or constant barrage of enemies. I’ve played the first Bejeweled on the LG Viewty and found it good fun, and this is exactly the same, albeit with a few more game types.

These different game types are Classic, Action, Puzzle and Endless.

There all very straight forward and pretty much exactly the same game with a few minor tweaks.

Play Free Online Tetris Games…With Tetris Friends!

March 31, 2009

tetris-friends-free-online-tetrisThe majority of people between the ages of 20 and 40 have heard of Tetris – the simple building block puzzle game. But many of the kids growing up today won’t of heard of it (or many of the other classics like Pac Man) and wouldn’t have been able to enjoy this game as millions of the older generations have unless they’d had the chance to play the recent Tetris Party WiiWare game on the Nintendo Wii.

So that is why (along with the obvious commercial possibilities) the team behind Tetris in the States and the legend that is Alexey Pajitnov (original designer and creator of the game) have been working on the new “Tetris Friends” portal which will allow users – young and old – to play a variety of different Tetris versions online.

Tetris Party Review (WiiWare)

November 28, 2008

tetris-party-logoI remember the good old days back when Tetris could only be played on the relic that is the GameBoy and how amazing and addictive it was!

Well now with Tetris Party it’s been revamped and has more options, I find it more addictive as it had me up until the early hours of the morning.

There are 5 different gaming types within Tetris Party which include:

  • Marathon Mode (Basic Tetris game)
  • Computer Battle (1 on 1 with the Wii)
  • Field Climber (Get a little man out of the board using the “Tetriminos”)
  • Shadow (Fill the shadow with the “Tetriminos”)
  • Stage Racer (Race through different courses using different “Tetriminos”)
  • And ONLINE!

You can play multiplayer as well, so if you have a sibling, other half or pet that you fancy showing up, then crack on!
