Zath’s Monster World of Warcraft Competition!
January 25, 2010
As a World of Warcraft player who is eagerly anticipating the upcoming WoW: Cataclysm expansion later in the year, I’ve recently got back into playing WoW by starting a new character and it got me thinking that it might be an idea to run a another competition for my fellow WoW players around the world and obviously anyone else who’d like to enter too!
With this in mind, I thought I’d try and make it worthwhile and rather than just give one prize away and there be just a single winner, I’ve put together a World of Warcraft prize pool (along with the help of SteelSeries and Starbucks) that means there’s 13 actual prizes up for grabs and having reviewed many of these items already, I’m happy that they’re worthy of such a competition!

December 10, 2009
Last week saw the second of the two recent releases from SteelSeries – the Siberia V2 headset, which as the name suggests is the successor to the original Siberia headset which was a success in it self – not just in the gaming world but also within the music industry which is a credit to the quality of the original.
Hoping to build on that success the Siberia V2 boasts a range of improved features and new additions that not only make it great for gaming, but also makes it better for use with MP3 players and iPods etc, and of course when combined with the SteelSeries mobile phone adapter, including the likes of the iPhone!
So without further ado let’s have a look at it. The full headset has a nice form, not looking too cumbersome but also substantial enough that it won’t snap in your hands, and comes in a glossy white, it’s hardly unattractive (if a little cliché) in the “Apple-age”.

Quite possibly the most annoying things about phones is when manufacturers decide not to use standard 3.5mm headphone jacks, but running it a close second is when you buy an expensive set of headphones with a good quality microphone and then you can’t use it for listening to music on the move as you can’t receive/make calls on it.
Fortuitously for those owning a SteelSeries headset one manufacturer has just released a mobile adapter which promises to work with the iPhone, the iPod Touch (2nd Generation) as well as most other mobile devices with a 3.5mm jack.

SteelSeries recently announced that they will soon be releasing their first closed-type headset which will be the upgrade to one of their existing headset range, namely the SteelSeries Siberia V2 gaming headset. The original SteelSeries Siberia headset was a hit with gamers around the world and also achieved some notoriety in the music industry when used by musicians in several high profile music videos.
For this reason alone, I thought that their follow-up headset would be worth looking at, as well as being their first closed-type headset that SteelSeries have released, the Siberia V2 has some other notable features such as great sound quality, integrated control capabilities, an enhanced more comfortable design and better passive noise reduction technology.

August 2, 2009
Since it’s inception in 2001 SteelSeries has been heavily involved in the gaming world – not only as a manufacturer of gaming gear (headsets, mice, keyboards etc etc) of which they are, in their words, market leaders, but also as a sponsor within the professional gaming world.
So given their credentials within gaming circles we thought that it was definitely worth having a look at the new products they have released this week: two mice (or mouses, pointing devices or whatever the accepted plural is) in the form of the SteelSeries Xai Laser and Kinzu Optical, and two gaming surfaces (yes, gaming surfaces, not mouse mats!).

Steelseries giving away competition prizes on Facebook? That might sound familiar to you and you’d be right in thinking that as they have run similar competitions from their Facebook fan page in the past. The most memorable for me was the Steelseries WoW Facebook Competition and likewise it looks like they’re giving away lots more prizes this time too.

April 7, 2009
When I was given the opportunity to test two different World of Warcraft mouse pads, I’ll be honest with you and admit that I was a little sceptical as to why you would want one given most of us are using various ‘modern hi-tech’ optical mice (perhaps even the WoW Mouse) these days that are supposedly a great improvement on the old-fashioned ball mouse – which I used to associate with the requirement for mouse pads.
One of my main gripes with mouse pads was that historically most of them were usually quite small in terms of surface area and normally quite thick which meant you’d move the mouse and the whole mouse pad would end up moving around your desk as most had very little underside grip…however thankfully this is NOT the case with these modern World of Warcraft mouse pads or “gaming mouse surfaces” as the professionals might call them!

I’ve been looking forward to getting the chance to play with the World of Warcraft mouse and review it since we first previewed it a few months ago and now here is our review of this custom gaming mouse.
Initially what struck me most of all about this World of Warcraft mouse was the box that it comes in being in the shape and action of a treasure chest – yes not only looks like a chest with the mouse shown in the centre of it, but it also opens up in a similar manner with the top being hinged and upon opening you see the mouse is shown in the middle of gold and jewels – very World of Warcraft-like!
Once I’d got into the box properly, I was rather surprised with what I found, although it did take a little bit of figuring out as I didn’t want to damage this novel packaging – good job that I wasn’t recording an unboxing video of it!
