Viigo - Mobile News Reader

viigo-logoI recently started using Viigo, a mobile RSS Reader which I installed on my new HTC Tytn II Windows Mobile-based smartphone/PocketPC. Viigo is a similar application to Mobispine which I’ve used in the past to keep up to date with my favourite websites and news feeds while on the move.

Viigo’s primary purpose is also to provide people with a way of accessing content with reduced data usage on their mobile phone/device and therefore reduced costs!

Mobispine LogoDo you like to check your favourite websites/blogs while out and about with your mobile phone? If you do, then you’ll find that there’s one main problem with checking the individual websites and that is that generally the cost of mobile internet access is expensive.

Your mobile Internet usage is usually charged based upon your data usage and as such anything you can do to minimise this is good!

RSS Explained in Steps

RSS explained in steps? What is this RSS subscription thing? Why should I subscribe? What’s in it for you? Right well here’s the explanation in plain English inspired by a post I saw over at CommonCraft.com.

After having been blogging here now for around 2 months with that big orange symbol sitting over there on the right hand side of the site, I did think that an explanation was well over due, so here it is:

“It’s essentially a way for you to receive new updates from websites all in one place, much like you receive your emails from all your friends in one place, thus saving you a lot of wasted time from when you regularly visit your favourite sites only to find they haven’t changed since the last time you visited.”
