Heracles Chariot Racing Preview (WiiWare)

July 31, 2009

heracles-chariot-racing-wiiware-coverHeracles Chariot Racing is a new racing game from Neko Entertainment, which has now become available on WiiWare. It was released not so long ago in the States, and following on from the success it made over the pond, it’s now available for European gamers as well.

From the videos that I’ve seen, it looks like a mix between Mario Kart and Crash Team Racing. It looks really nice – I would say that because I do love cartoon style games, but this does look like it could be a bit of fun.

Want to Play Mario Kart? (in Real Life?)

December 14, 2008

We’re big fans of Mario Kart here at Zath, so when I saw this great video, I just had to share with you all!

When I get chance, I do like to play a racing game, now I normally have to be content with playing Sega Rally, Burnout, Mario Kart DS or Mario Kart on the Wii, but this guy has taken his racing to a whole new level in a definite Mario style!

Pure Review (PS3)

October 2, 2008

pure-ps3-game-2As you may have already read in my “Pure (PS3) Demo” review, the game is a racing game on ATV bikes and has a feel of Motorstorm and SSX. The craziness of Motorstorm with 16 riders on the track at one time which can be fun, and the tricks you can pull off on the jumps is reminiscent of SSX.

You might notice a difference to this review and this is because I’m going to be doing game reviews from the tech side a bit more to give a deeper account of the game being reviewed.

And what a game to start with!

The opening of Pure has you completing a training session the same as in the demo, and then you have to build your own ATV which is really cool! Then it’s into the game! When you’ve completed a few races and gained some points you unlock extra parts for your bike which helps to improve your ATV.

pure-ps3-gameThat’s right, Zath is holding a Pure competition! Last week Ender wrote about what he thought to the Pure PS3 demo of the upcoming extreme racing game that Disney Interactive Studio are releasing on the 25th September 2008 for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Pure is an intense extreme sports, off-road quad bike racing game that involves lots of jumps and tricks. It has been developed by Black Rock Studio in collaboration with the esteemed quad racer and film director Wes Miller.

Pure Demo (PS3)

September 19, 2008

pure-ps3-gameImagine a mix between Motorstorm and SSX……..and you’ve got Pure!

I saw the PS3 demo for this game on the Playstation Network and thought it could be good for a laugh for a couple of minutes, but this game has left me wanting more.

Pure is the new ATV racing game from Disney Interactive. In the demo, you have objectives to complete before you can race. The objectives are there just to get you used to the game controls and include, doing a lap around the track, pulling tricks, boosting and completing a lap within 27 seconds.

Motorstorm Review (PS3)

August 18, 2008

motorstorm-platinum-coverStart your engines to one of the dark horses of the Playstation 3’s release titles.

I could not believe how good and addictive this Motorstorm is. I got this with a package as I didn’t think there were any other games better looking and thought it would be ok for a couple of hours or so.

A year down the line and I still love this game. Motorstorm is off road racing at its best and now it’s back as one of the PS3 Platinum games.

I’m not really one for racing games as I find them very repetitive and get boring very quickly, but this is just pure chaos on dirt tracks and lots of exploding cars and bodies flying everywhere and I love it.

Mario Kart DS Review

July 6, 2008

mario-kart-ds-cover-usFans of the Mario Kart franchise will not be let down. This is a pixel perfect copy of Mario Kart 64 with some added goodies. The nostalgia of Mario Kart snaking came flooding back when I played this game – it made me want to dig out my N64 and have a blast on Goldeneye.

If you have played any of the Mario Kart games before you will know the score; oversized cartoon characters racing around in strangely undersized vehicles shooting turtle shells at each other and using “magic” mushrooms to boost you about. People who have not played Mario Kart before do not be afraid. It is easy to pick up and play and will keep you busy for hours.

Logitech G25 Racing Wheel (PS3)

June 23, 2008

logitech-g25-racing-wheel-1Here’s another great gaming article on behalf of Game People, this time it’s from their latest writer, Jon Starkey, who as you can perhaps tell from the title, is a gamer who likes to play a racing game particularly using the Logitech G25 racing wheel and a GameRacer Seat. I believe this is the set-up that I played with when I went to Sega HQ to preview Sega Rally last August – so I can vouch for how great it was to use as well – I just wish I had these to play with at home! I hope you enjoy reading Jon’s perspective on gaming here and in the future – feel free to leave a comment on what you think.

Mario Kart Review (Wii)

May 7, 2008

Mario Kart WiiIt’s been 3 years since Mario Kart came out on the DS and 5 years since Mario Kart: Double Dash was released.

It’s been worth the wait for the next instalment.

I was pondering whether to get the game or not, because I thought “what more can they do?” – the answer…….it’s Mario Kart! Who cares what’s new! So I bought it and it was money well spent.

Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games – Bloggers’ Event

November 26, 2007

Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, this is Sega’s latest game for the Nintendo Wii – what can I say about Mario and Sonic appearing together for the first time in a game? I liked it!

I played it at a recent bloggers’ preview event which was similar in style to the Sega Rally Preview Event that I attended a few months ago, however this time round got to visit Nintendo’s “Wii Flat”, which is as the name suggests, a flat in Central London fully kitted out with Nintendo Wii’s!
