MiniMee Personalised Custom Keyring

November 25, 2009

minimee-personalised-custom-keyringYou must have seen those adverts all over the internet for ‘cartooning’ yourself. If not then you probably have seen those artists down by the beach or in city centres who offer to draw hilarious cartoons of you. Either way, the MiniMee personalised custom keyring is even better.

For just £19.95 you can have a small 3D version of you made to hang on your keychain!

All you have to do is send in a plain photo of yourself with no goofy sunglasses or interfering friends in and 3 weeks later you receive your mini keychain. You also have to disclose your eye colour to avoid confusion with photos.

MusicSkins Review (Personalise Hi-Tech Gadgets With Skins)

November 9, 2009

musicskins-logoYou’ve got your iPod, you’ve got your laptop, and now you can proudly walk around showing them off just like everybody else. But we humans seem to have an inherent need to be different, so somehow stand out, and thus the idea of adding skins to your prized electronic possessions arose and a company called MusicSkins are at the forefront of this market and so we thought we’d have a look.

The first thing you’ve got to do if you want to make your device unique is have the right device, but fortunately this is a pretty easy step as there is a fairly wide range available: the Nintendo DS, Sony PSP and PSP slim, iPhones, iPods, Zunes, SanDisks, a whole variety of popular phones (10) , five different size of laptops (12, 13, 14, 15 and 17 inches), Seagate Hard Drives and most importantly four types of Guitar Hero controllers.

But, alas, despite saying it was easy I found I in fact had none of them which fortunately is more of an exception (especially considering how much I love new tech) than the rule. Mostly this is due to the fact that MusicSkins do not currently offer netbook skins (hint hint!), or at least skins for those less than 12” – so borrowing a sibling’s Nintendo DS was then next step…

Moonpig.com Review (Personalised Greetings Cards)

November 4, 2009

moonpig-logo-personalised-greeting-cardsPerhaps the best, quickest and easiest way of buying personalised greetings cards! Moonpig.com allows you to choose from thousands of card designs and alter them to add the personal touch. You can upload photos and fit them into the design or add your own personal message, for example you can have your message hanging on a colourful banner from Big Ben or your photo hanging, gold framed in an art gallery.

The home page is split up into 3 sections. The left hand side is purely for navigation. There is a list of all the different categories of cards from anniversaries right down to weddings. Those with sub–categories are indicated with a small arrow. Overall it is very simple to find your way, as well as being neat and tidy.

Hallmark Card Studio Deluxe 2009 Review (Personalised Greeting Cards Design Software)

October 31, 2009

hallmark-card-studio-deluxe-cover-boxOk, so I’m a bit of a cheapskate. I admit that I would rather print off a card for free than go out to the shop and pay a couple of quid for one. What’s so wrong with that? Anyway, up until now my ‘greetings card maker’ consisted of having to design my own using some sort of desktop publishing software such as Microsoft Publisher. Which is a bit time consuming and ultimately, not that great for professional looking greetings cards. However, I then came across the Hallmark Card Studio Deluxe software, which is a greeting card design program that saves me time, money and effort. Ok so I’m a lazy cheapskate, but it’s the thought that counts!

Hallmark Card Studio Deluxe has actually been around for years with countless different versions. But the 2009 Deluxe version is the first that I have tried and tested. It’s not free, it cost me £30 from Amazon but it was well worth it. Really, it pays for itself in just about 10 cards.

Docker Review (Customise Mac OS X Dock)

September 29, 2009

apple-mac-os-x-dockI’ve always loved Mac OS X, but I find it a bit limited when it comes to customisation. My Windows desktop is almost indistinguishable from what it looked like when it was installed, but my OS X desktop? Well apart from a different wallpaper every 5 minutes of the day, it’s always been the same… So when I saw Docker, I naturally became excited at the prospect of being able to customise my Mac a little. After all, it’s playing catch up with Windows when it comes to personalisation.

I wasn’t expecting much of Docker, as it’s a free download, but I was pleasantly surprised with what I saw. When you open the application, you have a selection of tabs at the top of the window, allowing you to customise the various aspects of your dock.

How To Change Your Facebook Username (Vanity Name URL)

August 17, 2009

facebook-logoNot so long ago, there was the landrush for the launch of Facebook vanity name URLs for your profile page on what is the largest social networking site out there, interestingly we were told at the time that we had to choose wisely as this was a “one time only” deal – never shy of moving the goalposts (so to speak), Facebook have now changed their minds on this one too!

Now most of the non-tech savvy people that I have as friends on Facebook still haven’t chosen their’s – when I’ve asked them about it, most of them either have no clue about it and/or don’t have the slightest interest either way. Perhaps Facebook hasn’t made their users aware of it enough?

Facebook Vanity or Insanity URLs?

June 16, 2009

facebook-logo-urlNothing pleases me more than stupidity. My feelings towards its existence, however, are weirdly balanced. I sit pleasantly between cackling like a witch at how much stupid people need to be charged Stupid Tax and feeling happy that there’s a portion of the human population that keeps us all entertained. They’re a necessary evil and I can tolerate their dumb behaviour… just about. There’s definitely an art to it and since everyone else has jumped on this bandwagon, I thought it only fair for me to do the same. Given that I am the intentional Queen of Silly, I’ve spent a little while collecting together the most ridiculous and unquestionably some of the most stupid Facebook (vanity) URLs that have been registered since its launch at 5am (BST) on Saturday 12th June 2009.

Here’s the list of the best/worst (depending on how you view it):

UPDATE: Please note some of the following vanity URLs have now been changed/deleted – clearly some people didn’t like their choices!

Facebook Vanity URL Names – A New Land Rush?

June 11, 2009

facebook-logoIf you can remember back to the time when everybody used MySpace (yes, it was a while ago…) then you will probably recall that everybody had individual “vanity URLs”, and it was through these that people easily found each other.

However Facebook have finally cottoned on to the fact that it was a good idea and have decided to introduce a username scheme that will not only allow you to have your personalised vanity URL for your Facebook profile, but it will also be used in, according to Facebook, “numerous other ways”.

Make Your Own Monopoly

December 4, 2008

make-you-own-monopolyAs Zath HQ is not based in London, we feel very little attachment to the geography of the Monopoly board – Old Kent Road had no tangible meaning and Pall Mall means next to nothing. How much better would it be if you could actually make your own Monopoly choosing the names of the streets and call them whatever the hell you want. Well now you can!

With My Monopoly you actually get the opportunity to have the board printed with whatever names you chose. This means you could be playing the “business man’s board game of choice” around your very own town and you can chose whether you live in Old Kent Road or Pall Mall.
