Windows Phone 7 Series Announced By Microsoft

Microsoft have just announced their re-branding of Windows Mobile; the Windows Phone 7 Series at the 2010 Mobile World Congress, in Barcelona. The name may be a bit of a mouthful, but it’s clear that their new mobile operating system has taken a drastically different approach than previous efforts from Windows Mobile.

Every Windows Phone will have three buttons on the front of it: Start, Search and Back. This consistency will allow for a better experience for the user with hardware and software working together better – it’s a theme that Google’s also been chasing with their Android devices (such as the Nexus One) by encouraging manufacturers to use their 4 button template on the front of their devices, offering consistency across the board. This is definitely a step in the right direction as not only does it allow hardware and software to work better together, but also allows a much easier transition between Windows Phone devices.

How To Use Your Free Hotmail Account With A Desktop Email Client

When a friend asked me to help him out with setting up his Hotmail account with a desktop email client such as Thunderbird or Outlook, I thought I was in for a bit of a rough ride; the last time I tried such a thing it didn’t turn out so well (this was a number of years ago now).

However, I was rather surprised at the simplicity of the whole operation – if anybody has tried setting up a free Hotmail account in the past and couldn’t do so due to Microsoft’s restrictions or the necessary third party software, you need worry no longer!

LG Mobile Event (November 2009)

lg-logoHere at Zath we’ve had the opportunity to attend several LG Mobile events over the past year or two including ones for the launch of the LG Renoir (KC910), the LG Arena (KM900) and the LG Chocolate (BL40), however this time round we were invited to the learn about and play with a bunch of current and upcoming mobile phones from LG.

The event featured several mobile phones, some of which we’d seen before, but others were completely new – we’ll be covering these in more detail in separate articles, but here’s a quick run-down of what we were able to have a closer look at:
