Free Fantasy Football - Zath Premiership 08/09 Update

It’s been great to see so many people sign up to the challenge of the free fantasy football ‘Zath Premiership‘ so far, even before I’ve announced the prizes on offer – more on this in minute!
I just wanted to let everyone know that there is still time to sign up before the first points scoring week of the Zath Premiership which will actually be Game Week 2 of the overall game. The free fantasy football game itself started last week (Game Week 1), but I held off on starting our league as I wanted to do some further promotion, get a proper logo (hope you like it!), organise some prizes and ensure everyone had got signed up that had shown interest in it so far.

Zath: I recently announced the 7th season of the Zath Premiership - which is my own league that I run in conjunction with a free fantasy football website, based upon the results of the English Premier League. We’re now into the 4th year of the Zath Premiership that has been run through the official Fantasy Premier League website and I’m always pleased with the progress that is made year on year in terms of new features.
For instance, this year in the Zath Premiership there is the standard accumulation of points for players to aim for, but in addition, each week your team will “play” another team from the Zath Premiership, the team with the most points scores 3 points, the losing team score 0 and if it’s a draw, both teams will score 1. This is a great idea I think as it gives a cup like competition that has been present in previous years, but it takes place each week - I for one always got knocked out early on!
Anyway, if you haven’t already got signed up, then make sure you go shopping for players before the action kicks off or you’ll be playing catch-up! Here’s another of my fellow Game People’s thoughts on Fantasy Premiership Online, in this case the Perpetual Gamer: Dom Roberts

It’s almost 3 months since the Zath Premiership 07/08 finished, which means that it’ll soon be time for the 08/09 season of the Zath Premiership to begin!
The Zath Premiership is the fantasy football league that I run here on Zath, based upon the results of the English Premier League. Summer is moving along - I hope you’re all having a good summer by the way (regardless of the weather), but it’s time to start getting back to work! Well I say work, I mean thinking about who you’re going to have in your fantasy football team this season.
There’s now just two weeks to get your team (re)registered to be ready for the opening week and be ready to try and beat the current reigning Zath Premiership champions; ‘The Jinxed XI’ managed by Andrew Potter….or at least be able to gloat when you beat my team; Zath Rovers!

Around a month ago I found that you could get Football Manager 2008 cheap on the Xbox 360, which was a real bargain at the time for the console version, but now you can get it cheap on the PC too!
Football Manager 2008 still has plenty of life left in it as the 2009 version probably won’t be coming out till at least October time, Football Manager Live still has a tentative release date of summer 2008, but who’s to say whether that will make it out the door in time for us wanna-be football managers to keep busy with over the summer holidays?

I recently wrote a Football Manager Live preview which outlined some of the features of the game and included a couple of videos showing what the current beta version looks and plays like.
More information is now starting to come out in the recent New Game Features#1: The Skills to pay the Bills news update about this massively multiplayer online (MMO) version of Football Manager, this includes some detailed information about how you start the game and what skills and reputation you have….or more accurately it confirms that you lack those at the start of the game and must work your way up from scratch, just as you would in real life!

Zath Premiership 07/08 - End of Season Results!

The Zath Premiership recently reached the finishing line after a long, hard season that has run in parallel with and was based upon the English Premier League football season.
In the previous season, Zath Premiership 06/07 was won by my very own team, the mighty Zath Rovers - I even won on merit with no cheating or paying off of goalkeepers or anything else that the tabloids could have made up to take the shine off my title win!

Football Manager Live is coming! Football Manager has always been a great game for any football fan all the way back to it’s original incarnation as Championship Manager. It has always been the game that sets the bar for other manager games to live up to, whether it’s the game engine itself, general game features or innovations such as multiplayer - firstly over a network and now in the era of broadband, we can play against our friends over the Internet.

Sports Interactive gave us Football Manager 2008 addicts a real treat of an update for Valentines Day - the second official patch for FM 2008, namely patch v8.0.2! Now I bet there was a decision for some people to make, no doubt not wanting to upset their other half!
Since this Football Manager 2008 patch comes after the end of the January transfer window, it means that it also contains a data update which provides you with all the latest player moves to have happened up until the end of January - which is always much more fun to have when starting a new game of FM 2008!
