Google To Lose Murdoch’s Newspapers To Microsoft’s Bing Search Engine?

google-bing-logosEver since the induction of Bing by Microsoft, they have been clear of their intentions to overthrow Google as the kingpin of search engines. But now the rivalry is stepping up another gear due to one Rupert Murdoch, Head of News Corp. Which is responsible for perhaps most notably in the UK, the Times and the Sun newspapers which in recent years have expanded their empire to the world wide web raking in 10% of their revenue from the Internet.

It is the Internet of course, which has sparked this latest debate between Murdoch and giants Google as he revealed plans to block Google searches from displaying any of his news articles. He claims it is not legal for search engines to display his articles and headlines as ‘news’.

Twitter Gives Daily Mail A Stupid Answer To Its Stupid Question

twitter-logoNow here’s something to remember for any news sites out there (especially the Daily Mail) that like to run polls on topical issues and the like – don’t ask loaded questions! Or to put it a better way, don’t ask a stupid question or you’ll just get a stupid answer, especially online given how social networks such as Twitter can quickly spread information!

New York Times To Charge For Online Content?

new-york-times-logoIf you start to look at who has suffered most from the growth of the internet over the last decade then the first thing you would probably think of would be the music industry, which is surprising as you would have thought that Newspapers would have been hit the hardest (who needs to pay for news when you get it for free on the internet?).

However thanks to a combination of tradition, wanting to have news ‘on the go’ and numerous other reasons they have managed to hang in there, and the industry would appear to be still going strong, the vast majority also have thriving websites.
But unfortunately for the newspapers their popularity is declining, and the most obvious solution would be to exploit the capabilities of the internet and generate revenue via online means as well as (or maybe in the future instead of) the paper version.
