Monkey Island 2: Special Edition On Its Way? (Rumour)
March 8, 2010
We could be about to see an announcement from Lucasarts on the re-release of Monkey Island 2. Following on from the success that Lucasarts had from re-releasing the first Monkey Island: Special Edition, why would they not do it for the second? Which was arguably a better game?
Of course if they did re-release the second of Guybrush Threepwood’s adventures, I sure it would get a graphical overhaul as well as audio for the characters in the game.
I’m a big fan of Monkey Island of have them all set on my shelf including the latest Tales of Monkey Island, so to get to play Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge with better visuals sounds like fun to me.

We recently brought you news of a new and revitalised Monkey Island Special Edition game, but now we have even more news to bubble your bootlegger blood. Telltale Games have teamed up with Lucas Arts to bring you a brand new swashbuckling adventure called Tales of Monkey Island, available in five episodes available to download each month – the first of which shall be released on July 7th for PC and Nintendo WiiWare!
The good news is that we’ll all be getting more Guybrush than we can handle this summer – I know I’ve never shied away from making him shiver my timber at my own beck and call. The bad news is that if you finish your latest installment within a week, ye’ll be three sheets to the wind fer three whole weeks befor ye can grab some more of that ol’ booty!

The Secret of Monkey Island franchise is one of my all time favourite gaming series which I started first started playing way back in the day on my trusty Commodore Amiga, the original was such a great game – in between all the floppy disk swaps!
Well now Lucasarts have brought back what must be their premiere adventure gaming franchise in the form of The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition! The guys over at Lucasarts (many of which played the original and it was a driving force for them wanting to make games) have basically taken the original game, which was admittedly looking very long in the tooth now that it’s almost 20 years old and re-made it for the current generation gaming systems.

I remember being rather young when I first got a Commodore 64 with its squealing cassette player that you left loading a game for 15mins or so while you went and did something more interesting.
I then moved onto the Amigas, firstly the A500 (it had a floppy drive and everything!), I remember losing many night’s sleep to Civilization – one of the best games of all time! Later came my more modern-looking (it seemed it at the time at least) A1200 with an internal hard disk – it certainly made playing Secret of Monkey Island 2 with its 12 or so floppy disks a bit easier going!
