iPhone 3G & 3GS On Vodafone Mobile Network (UK)

iphone-on-vodafone-network-2010Another day, another iPhone announcement from a mobile network in the UK – you discuss the possibility of the iPhone on other UK mobile networks, then two announcements come along in as many days!

The day after we found out that we’d be getting iPhones on the Orange network in late 2009, we now find out that Vodafone will also have them available on their network after talks were completed and the deal was signed late last night with Apple.

iPhone 3G and 3GS On Orange Mobile Network (UK)

iphone-on-orange-network-2009Good news everyone! The iPhone’s exclusivity deal with O2 is over and we’ll be seeing the iPhone available on the Orange network before the end of the year!

Orange have announced that they now have an agreement with Apple to offer the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS to Orange customers later this year in 28 countries and territories. Within the UK they will be sold via all direct Orange channels including Orange shops, the Orange website, and Orange telesales, in addition to other selected high street partners.

iPhone 3G Available On Other UK Networks? (Rumour)

iphone-3gThere’s apparently more talk, or shall we say rumours that Apple might be in talks with other mobile phone networks that would see O2 lose their exclusivity deal on the iPhone 3G handset. The UK networks in question could well be Orange and T-Mobile, both of which would no doubt be eager to get the now entry-level iPhone 3G handset available to their customers.

I’m sure there’s a lot of people out there who have ended up on the O2 network simply because they wanted an iPhone and had no choice in the matter – I know I certainly have, before I got my iPhone 3G PAYG, I’d been with Orange for nearly 10 years and for the most part I would have been happy enough to remain with them had they been able to offer me the iPhone at the time, especially since the Orange network signal is better in my local area.

British Airways To Allow In-Flight Mobile Phone Use

british-airways-logoOne of the more frustrating things about flights these days is the fact that, for the whole of the flight, you are disconnected from the rest of the world whilst you are on the plane, at least with regards to your mobile/smartphone – you cannot check emails, you can’t call someone to pick you up at the airport and you can’t surf the web.

You have never been able to use mobile phones on planes, and there are a few good reasons why not – imagine sitting next to an excitable businessman on a 12 hour trans-Atlantic flight as he talks continuously on his phone, fighting the sound of the engines all the time. But now British Airways has released plans to allow mobile phone use on planes which could dramatically change the nature of your flight.
