‘Lord of the Rings: Conquest’ Review (PS3)

February 22, 2009

lord-of-the-rings-conquest-ps3-coverLike the Star Wars franchise, Lord of the Rings keeps coming back with more games based on the film years later. Lord of the Rings: Conquest lets you take control of many playable characters and monsters from the series. This includes all the Hero characters including the enemy characters such as Sauron.

The game allows up to 16 players online and fours players can play offline through the campaign mode. There are two offline campaign modes in the game, one being the original story of the films and the second having a take on what would have happened if Sauron had won the battle and if Frodo didn’t throw the ring into the lava!

Lord of the Rings Conquest is a straight forward hack and slash game developed by Pandemic Studios – they were the same developers who did Star Wars Battlefront, so if you have already played Star Wars Battlefront you will most likely know what Lord of the rings is all about. However this time instead of Jedis, Spaceships and lightsabers you have wizards, balrog and swords.

Overlord: Raising Hell Review (PS3)

October 18, 2008

overlord-raising-hell-ps3-coverI read a review for Overlord: Raising Hell (PS3) a few weeks ago because it was just there to read. But after reading what the game was about and what you could do, I really wanted to play it and so glad that I have.

Imagine a mix between Pikmin, The Lord of the Rings and Fable and you have Overlord!

The point of the game is to use your ‘minions’ to accomplish certain tasks such as opening gates, collecting treasure or killing great big fat Halflings. If you want to kill some innocent villagers and become an evil overlord, then so be it.

‘The Hobbit’ Script Being Written!

August 26, 2008

the-hobbit-book-coverThe team behind ‘The Hobbit’ have started to write the scripts for the two Hobbit movies. Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens and Guillermo Del Toro have put pen to paper and The Hobbit is finally a reality.

I was worried that this was never going to be made, but with Ian McKellen and Andy Serkis back as Gandalf and Gollum, and the Lord of the Rings’ team back behind the screenplay, this is looking really good – so much better than what this might have been had Peter Jackson not been involved!

Lord of the Rings Online Video – Stupid Hobbitsess – Episode 2

June 5, 2007

Well from the trailer and first episode of the Stupid Hobbitsess story you can see that their adventure has now begun as they are taking their first steps of their journey to ‘Save the Ale, Save the World!’ (otherwise known as being a distraction for Sauron) – if you’ve missed these previous instalments, you can catch them in my post about Stupid Hobbitsess Video.

Lord of the Rings Online Video – Stupid Hobbitsess

May 26, 2007

I’ve recently started playing a new game called Lord of the Rings Online which is an massively multiplayer online game similar to World of Warcraft, but it takes place in Tolkien’s Middle Earth setting.

While reading LotRO Insider over at the Female Gamer website, I saw some a couple of rather interesting videos for Stupid Hobbitsess which like the World of Warcraft videos I’ve posted in the past have been made using the Lord of the Rings Online game. However, in this case the videos would seem to have more of an ongoing narrative than the WoW ones.
