Pushme.to iPhone App Review
March 13, 2010
Pushme.to is a free alternative to text messaging on the iPhone, allowing users of the app to send and receive messages from others on the service. At first I questioned the necessity of this application, after all, iPhone users already have SMS and various instant messaging and social networking clients (including Facebook and Twitter) on the App Store right?
After using it for a while, however, I came to appreciate the great service pushme.to offers as an alternative to these apps when you’re out of texts – after all, some of the iPhone contracts available on the market aren’t exactly generous when it comes to SMS limits. Another useful feature with this service is that it allows people to send messages to registered users from the Pushme.to website.

If you haven’t heard of Tagcrumbs before, it’s a service dedicated to sharing your favourite places with your friends and people on the web, offering a great service when finding things to do around where you are, or just finding new places.
With such a service being well suited to location aware devices such as the iPhone 3GS, it was only a matter of time until Tagcrumbs had an application on the App Store, and it’s now available in the store for seven countries.
With the free Tagcrumbs iPhone app, you can recommend a place you’ve been for others to go, knowing that they’ll have a great time. With Tagcrumbs, users can tag places they find, offering great flexibility to users who can recommend and find virtually anything they want that’s been tagged by others.

Whoever invented discount vouchers should most probably be a saint…if you look hard enough, you’ll be able to find discount vouchers for most stores you’d want to buy from, but it’s the looking that’s the hard part!
Luckily for us, the VoucherCloud iPhone App takes the pain out of hunting for vouchers by simply offering you choices based on your current location and any category you wish to view.
VoucherCloud is available as a free application on the App Store, if you’re out and about you’ll be saving money in no time with all the offers in your area that you didn’t know about! Presenting offers around your current location using GPS is a great location based service that makes this app a great addition to your iPhone.

March 8, 2010
Nike paired up with Apple to produce, what I think, is a great piece of running kit to encourage you to get out and about, walking or running.
What is the Nike+ Sensor for?
The Nike+ sensor and iPhone app track your running progress while you’re out and about through distance, speed and calories. It’s a little like the stats given to you while running on a treadmill. It’s great to have those milestones to help you keep going, even while listening to music. The app gives you stats to take away and feel good about.

March 5, 2010
Have you seen the new Tesco Clubcard iPhone App? If you’re a loyal Tesco customer like me (well I have a loyalty card, so clearly I must be) and have an iPhone then here’s your chance to get rid of one of those numerous cards from your wallet or purse!
Tesco’s Clubcard app for the iPhone is a pretty simple one in its current form, you enter your clubcard details into it and it then will display a barcode whenever you load up the app.
Therefore all you need to do when you’re next at the Tesco checkout is load up the app and have it scanned at the till instead of plucking out you a card from your wallet or purse or perhaps using one of the keyring barcodes they’ve also sent out to people.

March 3, 2010
Kooaba, available for iPhone and Android OS, is a search app with a difference – it works by allowing you to take a photo of whatever it is you’re interested in and using image recognition to determine the search.
You can add your searches to your Kooaba library, allowing you to save searches for another time or for when you get home, as everything on your personal online account is also automatically synced to Kooaba’s desktop application.
Although this kind of application isn’t unheard of, in fact there are similar ones on offer such as barcode readers for product searches, it’s definitely an intriguing idea. Unlike many barcode applications, Kooaba doesn’t need anything but an image of a CD, DVD or book to find what you’re looking for on the web.

February 18, 2010
Not long ago i reviewed the iTap Touchpad iPhone app which acted as a multitouch trackpad for any PC or Mac. I discovered the app was feature filled, responsive and overall pretty good. But then i stumbled across the new Logitech equivalent which I must say, threw all of that iTap hype right out of the window, across the street, and straight into the nearest bin. It’s hard to imagine that these apps differ much at all, but the few subtle differences there are, trust me make a big difference.
The setting up of the Logitech Touch Mouse iPhone App is simple. It is available for free from the iPhone app store and you must also download ‘iTouch Server’ from the official Logitech website on your PC or Mac. This is so it can communicate solely to that machine, otherwise you could end up with all sorts of confusion if your home consists of more than one machine. Once you have downloaded both apps, you will notice upon launching the iPhone app, the name of your PC will be listed and connection via Wi-Fi should be simple enough. If not, you can always manually enter the IP address of the desired machine.

February 16, 2010
Capcom have announced that Street Fighter IV will be released for iPhone this March and from what I’ve read, it sounds like they’re trying to keep what made Street Fighter IV such an acclaimed hit upon its release last year.
The same art style will be used on the characters but in a smaller, scaled down version. The list of characters so far is just Ken and Ryu, but there will be old fighters and some of the new ones from SFIV included in the iPhone release.

February 16, 2010
The credit card, like much of the useful technology around today, was conceived by the Victorians – which is something very people know, and in fact even fewer care! But it does demonstrate how sensible an idea it is that it’s stood the test of time, and since they have come into use in the late 1950’s they’ve been both the liberator and bane to most people’s lives.
But now that everyone carries phones around it is assumed that the credit card will eventual be phased out and replaced with purely digital transfers or money – but the latest app/hardware add-on for the iPhone from Square promises to give the credit card a new lease of life and perhaps further reduce our need to carry cash around in our pocket.

February 12, 2010
Well it’s the end of another week and as always there’s been a lot going on in the world of technology and hi-tech gadgets, luckily some of our favourite websites have not let us down as they’ve covered some of them this week, here’s some of the stories that we liked most, along with a few of our favourites from Zath and the thoughts that come to mind from reading them!
O2 Testing 4G Mobile Broadband Network in the UK – the one thing that puts me off buying a mobile broadband device right now is the fact that I see such variable coverage and often poor download speeds when using my mobile phone, so news that we could be approaching a time of 4G mobile broadband coverage which would see much faster browsing and download speeds is a very promising thing, although I’m guessing it’s still a few years off just yet, so I’ll probably end up using the 3 Mobile Broadband voucher code to save £54 afterall, but there’s hope for the future!
