Wii In High Definition?
October 5, 2008
The word is out that Nintendo could be releasing a new version of the Wii in 2011. This version would enable people to play true high definition (HD) games on the Wii, will have an increased hard drive and will still carry the name Wii.
It’s not that long ago that I covered the talk of there being a Wii 2 on its way and now some more speculation has come to light.

October 3, 2008
The latest range of LG Plasma TV were recently unveiled at an LG Plasma TV bloggers’ event at Fulham FC’s Craven Cottage football ground (LG are their sponsor).
There were three new models on show at the event and these were as follows:
- LG 32PG6000 (720p) - this is the world’s first production 32? Plasma, normally plasmas are much larger, this would be great if you have a smallish room to fill.
- LG 50PG6900 (1080p) - this 50″ model features a dual-tuner Freeview+ Plasma with built-in 160GB PVR - very useful indeed!
- LG 50PG70000 (1080p) - this 50″ beast is the top-of-the-line Plasma with features such as Bluetooth connectivity.
When it comes to home cinema displays - you generally need to make a choice between a high definition LCD or plasma TV. I always spend a lot of time researching what is currently considered the best in terms of quality at my set price point to make sure I get the best deal.

June 17, 2008
I’ve just watched the new trailer for the new upcoming animated film of Star Wars: Clone Wars which will then be continued in the form of a series on the TV channel Cartoon Network. I love the style of animation and am actually really looking forward to seeing this and think it could repair a bit of the nuclear damage that episode I, II and III have done to the Star Wars franchise.
Xbox 360 Elite!
March 28, 2007
Following my post on a possible new Xbox 360 model - it was only speculation at the time, it could have turned out to be a big hoax for April Fools, but Microsoft have now officially unveilled it and rather nice it looks too!
Channel 10 have a very interesting interview with Albert Penello from Microsoft who answers some important questions that were being asked all over the Internet about the Xbox 360 Elite. For instance:
- The console and accessories are black in colour,
- A 120GB hard disk,
- It has a HDMI connection port, an included HDMI cable,
- A standard DVD drive (no built-in Hi-Def drive),
- It won’t be a limited edition model.
Samsung LE32R74BDX Review
March 10, 2007
The 32″ Samsung LE32R74BDX Widescreen HD Ready with built-in Freeview tuner was a recent purchase of mine - my first High Definition LCD TV. As you may have guessed from the various Xbox 360 and High Definition TV subjects I’ve been posting (anyone with a new toy likes to talk about it!)

I read quite a lot of review sites and forums before finally choosing this brilliant Samsung LE32R74BDX High Definition LCD TV. I was mainly concerned that with it being LCD, there could be issues with ghosting on fast moving images (which I’ve had problems with in the past on computer monitors) and a possibility of “dead pixels“, thankfully Microsoft seems to have a made a good choice in using Samsung LCDs on their demo stands since this neither of these things were a problem at all, either for gaming on the Xbox 360, TV or DVDs.
Defining High Definition
March 9, 2007
Following up on my previous post about HDTV difference comparison, I came across this handy FAQ webpage that goes into some detail about exactly why high definition looks better, along with lots of other HD info.

March 6, 2007
In the last couple of years there has been an increasing amount written and spoken about High Definition TV and gaming, so when people ask you what it actually means, you can try and baffle them with specifications; 720p this, 1080i that, not forgetting that 1080p as well! Or just tell them - “it gives you a better picture!”.
I think until people actually see what the difference can be, most people often say they are more than happy with their “good” Standard Definition picture. With that thought in mind I found the following page quite useful in demonstrating the basic potential difference, just move your mouse pointer over to see the difference.
