Choro Robo Q – Smallest Remote Control Robot?

December 5, 2009

choro-robo-q-smallest-remote-control-robotThe name doen’t really give a lot away other than the fact that it’s a robot. But the Choro Robo Q is a different robot. In fact, it’s said to be the smallest working robot in existence. It seems that in Japan, where it originated, the smaller the better.

The robot is a remote control device which is extremely capable. And portable!. It charges using the controller and it can be carried inside too, which just shows how small it really is because I can assure you, it’s not a particularly large controller. It charges magnetically by coupling with the controller.

Mini-Catamaran

October 6, 2008

mini-catamaranHave you ever thought of owning your own yacht or a (not so mini) catamaran? Of course you haven’t!! Because theose things are huge and you’re not a 60 year old, pipe smoking, port swilling toff.

Have you ever thought of owning your own catamaran? Again probably not, because they are massive, expensive and not exactly the most practical mode of transport… until now!!

Welcome to possibly the best gadget you will see this Christmas, the Mini-Catamaran.

No your eyes do not deceive you, this brilliant piece of engineering is basically a catamaran in a bag. Impossible, I hear you cry, but actually it is quite simple just look at the Blue Peter style help instructions below:

EcoButton (Computer Standby Button)

August 19, 2008

eco-button-usbThe EcoButton is a cool USB gadget that saves you money and fights global warming! I can practically hear your tuts of disbelief back at Zath HQ. But seriously this little eco-friendly gizmo will do exactly that and even has the balls to gloat about it too!

I am talking about the EcoButton. Essentially it is a large nicely lit button that plugs into a USB port and once clicked puts your machine into “Eco Mode”. This allows your computer to go into a standby mode that only uses 1.8 watts of power (apparently that is loads less then most normal standby modes). “who cares” and “nothing new” I thought when I first saw it, but I decided to look a little deeper.

Envirofone Review (Sell Your Old Mobile Phones)

August 1, 2008

Envirofone
The great thing about the rapid pace of mobile phone technology is that we get to play with lots of new features on our mobile phone handsets as we upgrade to newer models, particularly when we’re on contracts and often get these new handsets for free. But what of your old mobile phones? The answer is Envirofone!

This is the inevitable downside of getting a new hi-tech gadget – I for one have now got to the point where I’m running out of family and friends who I can pass these onto as they’re more inclined to get their own up-to-date handsets. You could try selling these older mobile phones on eBay, but I find the prices are quite often that low that I think it’s not really worth the hassle of setting up the auctions.

July 31, 2008

coolest-gadgets-logoIn recent months, I’ve discovered Coolest Gadgets as a great source of information for the latest hi-tech gadgets, it was created and is run by Al Carlton who now has several sites including Self Made Minds.

One of their latest new regular features on the site is a weekly competition to find the Coolest Gadget of the Week as voted by the readers of the Coolest Gadget website.

I submitted the USB VHS Converter post from last week here on Zath! and it got featured as one of the nominations for this week’s Coolest Gadget of the Week!

Hi-Tech Gadgets

June 19, 2008

Do you like hi-tech gadgets? Of course you do, who doesn’t like a good hi-tech gadget? I mean they’re like toys for adults to play with!

I recently met several fellow technology / gadget bloggers at LG’s ‘Secret’ Bloggers’ Event to promote the release of their new ‘Secret’ mobile phone. The event was enjoyable in terms of hearing about and getting to play with LG’s latest mobile phone, we also had the opportunity to talk to the LG people to discuss their products, future directions they may take and the industry in general.
