Cars To Become Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspots? Audi A8 Features 3G Internet Access
February 15, 2010
Just the other day I was pondering whether there would be any benefit to including 3G mobile broadband connectivity into cars. Then today I log onto the Internet and do the usual rounds, before I stumble across an interesting article telling me that Audi have joined up with Qualcomm and done this very thing. The navigation system in the new Audi A8’s will now include 3G capability in which a driver just shoves in a connected sim card and it opens him up to a whole host of features previously unheard of in motor cars.
Ok so you’re not going to sit browsing the net whilst in the driver seat, that would be more dangerous than using your phone, but the features are somewhat impressive. For example, when you pass a landmark or spot an interesting building, or a historical venue, the navigation system will give the driver the simple option of pulling information from sources such as Wikipedia regarding that spot. Great eh?

October 19, 2009
Google have done a great job in mapping the world, what with Google Maps, Google Street View, Google Latitude and of course Google Earth is a great tool to install and play with, there’s even a Google Earth iPhone app! That kind of flattery would not be coming out of the Multimap PR department, but as the years have gone by since Google originally released those services, they’ve had scores of improvements made to them that have continued to improve it and move them further ahead of the rest of the market.
Well now there’s another addition, and one that will not only improve Google Earth but will give you something to do when you’re bored and looking for a bit of fun – and even better it’s actually (if you’ll excuse the pun) constructive. And if you hadn’t already guessed from the title it’s called Google Building Maker, and it does exactly what it says on the tin.

July 4, 2009
The Google Street View interface has recently had some “Smart Navigation” improvements made to it which have certainly been a welcome addition to the service as beforehand as good as we thought it was here at Zath, it could still get a little annoying to use for any extended length of time.
Google Street View (UK) Goes Live
March 19, 2009
A couple of months ago in Jan 2009, we covered the fact Google Street View (UK) would be coming our way sometime this spring, well that day has arrived as Google updated their Google Maps online application with their ‘Street View’ functionality.
Google’s customised cars carrying specially mounted video cameras have been capturing footage from all over the UK while travelling 22,369 miles of UK streets and this footage has now been integrated into their popular online mapping service.

It’s been announced that Google Street View is coming to the UK!
The first cities in the UK to be included as part of Google Street View will be London, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh – Google cars equipped will the special cameras for this task have been out and about in these areas in the past few months, so it’s expected that the images captured will be implemented in Google Street View for the UK by Spring 2009.
UPDATE: Google Street View is now live in the UK and features images of 25 cities – a full list of the cities featured are contained on that page too.
UPDATE 2: It’s only taken around a year, but now Google Street View covers most of the UK – try looking up your local area, chances are you’ll be able to look around it now!
In case you haven’t heard of Google Street View before, it is basically an addition to Google’s already impressive mapping services which form their online Google Maps website, Google Maps mobile software, their Google Earth desktop software application and Google Earth iPhone App. This added feature of Street View means that as well as seeing a location in map form and from a satellite view, you can now ‘go down to street level’ and navigate around using a 360° horizontal and 290° vertical panoramic interface that allows you to travel virtually around an area.

October 28, 2008
Google have just released a new application for the iPhone, now you can have Google Earth on your iPhone or iPod Touch.
I’ve been using the Google Earth application ever since it was first released back in 2005; I try not to use it too often as I find I end up flying around looking at all the satellites views of various locations, zooming in and out all over the place for a good hour or two once I do start using it.
Now you can access all the great features of Google Earth on your iPhone including some specific ones just for the iPhone version:
