OnLive Release Date & Price Announced
March 11, 2010
Remember the online gaming service we covered a few months ago called OnLive that moves your gaming to the cloud? Well it just got real. In case you missed it, OnLive aims to deliver over the air gaming to users in a similar way to general cloud computing.
Data and games are stored on OnLive servers and the images are beamed to gamers around the world who compete in an online environment. The Beta went up quite a while ago and it seems the waiting is almost at an end for US gamers, as the official OnLive launch date has been announced as 17th June 2010.
For $15 a month users will be able to access the OnLive community, however games themselves will cost that little bit extra which is a given considering developers are still going to want their money’s worth out of their games. However this does raise some concerns with potential gamers.

November 16, 2009
A few weeks ago you may have read my article on ‘OnLive’ moving gaming into ‘the cloud’. The global gaming network played via the internet eliminating the need for exceptional hardware spec to play the latest modern games. If you didn’t then I recommend reading that before this revolutionary announcement.
Today, founder and CEO of the company Steve Perlman, announced and demonstrated the OnLive service, not only on a regular PC but on the iPhone too. This extends the service from the current TV or PC/Mac platforms to gaming on the go too, not only on the iPhone but also on a number of regular mobile phones which have yet to be announced.

October 8, 2009
At the game developers conference this year, we learned about a revolutionarly video gaming service called OnLive which could provide games on demand. Created by Steve Perlman, mainly recognised as being the creator of Quicktime, comes a service backed my gaming giants such as Electronic Arts, THQ, Eidos, Ubisoft and Codemasters.
In essence, OnLive is an online game streaming service. The hardware itself is still in Beta testing and consists of a pretty small box unit and wireless controller.
They say that to play the highest quality games, users will require download speeds of around 5mbps or more, which is fairly reasonable as by the time the product is released, that will be a very modest connection indeed for any serious gamers.

Here at Zath we’re big fans of gaming and as such made good use of the last GAME voucher code (£5 off) that Game was offering as a discount for all us eager gamers to use on the GAME website.
Well we’re pleased to announce that GAME have released another voucher for us gamers to use exclusively on their website, clearly they’re in the bank holiday spirit already which is must be why given that this voucher code is only valid until the end of the bank holiday weekend – this voucher code expires at the end of Monday 4th May.

March 25, 2009
Over the last seven years this little project has been sitting in Silicon Valley undetected and undisturbed working away at something that hopes to revolutionise the way in which we play video games and change the hardware that we have in our homes, and at the Gaming Developers Conference we finally got a good look at what it is.
The basic idea behind OnLive is that you will be able to essentially get on demand video games through the ‘cloud’ and onto your Mac, PC or even TV. By instantly streaming compressed video you will be able to play it ‘almost instantaneously’ giving the same experience that you would have if you were playing it locally – truly digital game distribution!
But the real genius behind this is that it relies on the video compression and broadband streaming (along with the cloud), and not on the actual hardware on the computer which will mean that even low end machines will be able to benefit from high quality gaming.

January 8, 2009
I’ve been playing Football Manager Live on a semi-regular basis since the “Shearer Gameworld” went live in early December.
I’ve not yet quite made up my mind as to exactly what I think to it as yet as it’s still in the early stages and with a new Football Manager Live update v1.1 to go live in the coming week – I’m guessing that this will be a more refined version of the game now that Sports Interactive are now going to be distributing and promoting the game through the regular channels – thus far, it’s mainly been been promoted online and you could only get the game by subscribing and downloading the client.

December 6, 2008
To coincide with the recent release of the second World of Warcraft expansion pack – The Wrath of the Lich King (which incidentally it is now officially the fastest selling PC game ever), Blizzard have done a couple of new adverts showing another two celebrities talking about WoW.
Apparently the celebrities who feature in these adverts are actually celebrities who play World of Warcraft…I’m not sure to what extent that is actually true, perhaps they only had to be sat down in front of a computer and get to level 2 to qualify for that statement, or perhaps I’m just being cynical!
Football Manager Live Launch Dates
October 27, 2008
The Football Manager Live launch dates have been put back a little from the original projected dates at the end of October!
This is because of issues that have been found during the latest round of beta testing, specifically the recent Stress Test – Sports Interactive invited a bunch of players to test out the game on one gameworld a few weeks back to simulate what a live gameworld (server) would be like put under heavy (more than expected) load of players in the game.
After missing out on the beta during the last year or so, I was very pleased to be invited to have a chance at participating in this Football Manager Live stress test. It basically involved starting out as a new manager and playing the game as you would normally, I somehow stumbled around the game and found my way around and liked what I found so far in this Football Manager Live preview of things to come.

September 30, 2008
Oh yes there is a Viking Quest Game which has recently been released! Your chance to be “an ice age badass” if ever there was one!
I’m a big fan of the brilliant Entourage TV show, if you are too then you’ll no doubt need no introduction to the little-known that got cancelled called Viking Quest which starred Johnny ‘Drama’ Chase himself – however, if you don’t know Entourage, then I doubt you’ll have heard of Viking Quest – lets just say that it didn’t do that well when it was first made (up).
