With another football season underway, a new version of Football Manager is the highlight of the month for me – I racked up a lot of game time with FM 2009, and grabbed a copy of Football Manager 2010 on release day to start all over again with a new club and a very different user interface that took a while to get used to…
The first thing that I noticed immediately was the time it takes to create a new game, or the lack of… Being a long time Football Manager player, I’m quite accustomed to waiting a long time for a new game to setup, so I was very impressed when my game was set up and ready to go in less than 60 seconds after selecting my team (Gateshead if you’re interested; I like a challenge).

Around a month ago I found that you could get Football Manager 2008 cheap on the Xbox 360, which was a real bargain at the time for the console version, but now you can get it cheap on the PC too!
Football Manager 2008 still has plenty of life left in it as the 2009 version probably won’t be coming out till at least October time, Football Manager Live still has a tentative release date of summer 2008, but who’s to say whether that will make it out the door in time for us wanna-be football managers to keep busy with over the summer holidays?

When you make the commitment to take up the job as a Football Manager, it is a very time consuming endeavour as you move all your pieces (players) into and out of place like a hugely complicated game of chess.
It is a (gaming) profession that is fraught with hard work, stress and at some points, huge frustration when things go against you – particularly in the last minute of a football game. If things go well, you won’t be staring the threat of relegation in the face, if you do really well, you may well have to deal with the other problem of just keeping hold of your best players as the bigger clubs circle round you for them.

Sports Interactive gave us Football Manager 2008 addicts a real treat of an update for Valentines Day – the second official patch for FM 2008, namely patch v8.0.2! Now I bet there was a decision for some people to make, no doubt not wanting to upset their other half! 
Since this Football Manager 2008 patch comes after the end of the January transfer window, it means that it also contains a data update which provides you with all the latest player moves to have happened up until the end of January – which is always much more fun to have when starting a new game of FM 2008!

Well after my recent posts about the Football Manager 2008 trailer and FM 2008 demo – despite being a recovering football manager addict, having not really played the last two instalments, I’ve succumbed to the dark side and have got Football Manager 2008. It’s installed on my pc and it’s been played in special controlled doses of sessions no longer than 1 hour per day!

I recently wrote about a PC game bargain, the new Football Manager 2008 game for £17.99, which is the latest evolution of a great game over a decade in the making and refining of – I didn’t get to play the 2007 version much at all (despite it being sat on my game-shelf all year), but am planning on having a return to form with this, the 2008 incarnation.
If you haven’t already got your Football Manager 2008 pre-orders placed, now you can play the demo that has been released today to help you make up your mind – as if any true football fan needed to even play a demo of these games before committing to a game purchase!
