Invisible Hand Review (Cheap Online Shopping Price Finder)

January 19, 2010

Invisible Hand is a remarkable piece of software which is lightweight and extremely efficient. It is an add-on for your web browser that works as a real time price comparison tool. As you browse products on the web, the invisible hand automatically finds you cheaper deals elsewhere. For expensive retailers, it’s a nightmare, but for us consumers it’s a dream come true. After all, everyone loves to get a cheap bargain when they’re looking to do some discount shopping online.

The software browses through 115 different retailers spanning the USA, UK and Germany. Obviously I can only comment on the UK as any others are unnecessary for me. In the UK the software browses major retailers such as Amazon, Curry’s, Dixons, HMV, Play.com, John Lewis and Misco. There are in total 46 UK retailers within the software’s capabilities.

My Amazon Adventure…Of Christmas Refunds

January 15, 2009

amazon-logoLike many of you, I purchased a Christmas Present from Amazon this year. Actually it was a present for myself. Not from me, but from my parents on account of the fact that they don’t “do” Amazon, so it was left to me to organize purchase. “We’ll pay for it if you buy it” was the scenario.

It was one of those indoor mini-helicopters that run on a lithium polymer battery. I bought a Silverlit Picoz last year which I was very impressed with, but this was a larger 3-channel model, so I couldn’t wait.

I opened it on Christmas Day and well.. There was a tail-blade sheared off (my mum dashed-out to the 24hr service station on a mission for super-glue – It could easily be repaired, we supposed), but more critically, the charging transformer for the battery did not charge the battery, got very hot and started to smoke! Needless to say, this made for a rather crappy Christmas and no helicopter!

Amazon UK Supersaver Delivery Now Just £5

October 20, 2008

amazon-uk-logoHave you used the Amazon Supersaver delivery option before when ordering from Amazon.co.uk? Ever since it was introduced into the UK a few years ago, I’ve always tried to take advantage of it to save having to pay extra on delivery costs.

In terms of delivery service, I’ve found that using the Amazon Supersaver option is rarely any worse than the standard delivery options of other online companies, clearly there isn’t the special priority being given to your order at Amazon to get it to you next day, but in most cases, I’m quite happy to wait for a few days to receive my items if the delivery is free.

Discount Shopping Online?

July 26, 2008

discount-shopping-onlineI find one of the greatest things about using the Internet is the ability to do some discount shopping online to find yourself a well-researched cheap bargain!

I really embraced online shopping to such as degree that when I do go out into the high street, I find that I no longer make want to make any impulse buys that I would then often regret making afterwards. I don’t know if it’s because I’m getting older or that I get much more satisfaction from actually researching which actual products are best in a given category and finding that product at the cheapest possible price on the Internet.

I think it’s most likely the more patient, frugal-side of me winning out over the side of me that wants immediate shopping gratification! I sometimes wonder how many other people feel the same way as myself about discount shopping online these days, if it’s an increasing number then surely the physical high street stores will have to develop accordingly where they offer no real benefits over that of a website.
