Eurogamer Expo 2009 (London) – Games Review: Part 2

November 9, 2009

eurogamer-expo-2009-logoAs I’m sure you are aware that some of us at Zath have recently visited the Euogamer Expo’s at both Leeds and London, and this is the second of a few posts having a look at some of the games I got to have a go on at the latter event and picking out some of the best ones just in time for Christmas – in the Eurogamer Expo Games Review: Part 1 we’ve already seen what ‘Avatar’ and ‘Professor Layton and Pandora’s Box’ had to offer and now here’s a couple more of the ‘most wanted’ games out there.

To cheer you up on what has been, for the most part, a fairly drab and wet week as winter descends upon us I thought it would be good to look at two of the games that gave me the biggest surprises at the Expo: “Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time” and “Lost Planet 2”.

Eurogamer Expo 2009 (Leeds) – Games Review: Part 1

November 8, 2009

eurogamer-expo-2009-logoSo as you know, we here on Zath have recently attended the Eurogamer Expo’s in Leeds and London and we’ve played a few games that were there on show and I thought I’d share with you a few of the games that we managed to get our hands on this year.

Uncharted 2 (PS3)

uncharted-2-among-thieves-ps3-cover-150First up is Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. After playing the first Uncharted I was expecting this to be just as good if not better and it certainly didn’t disappoint. I had played on the Uncharted 2 multiplayer BETA version before the expo, but the demos on show were the single player versions and it was brilliant.

Eurogamer Expo 2009 (London) – Games Review: Part 1

November 4, 2009

eurogamer-expo-2009-logoAs I’m sure you are aware that some of us at Zath have recently visited the Euogamer Expo’s at both Leeds and London, and this is the first of a few posts having a look at some of the games I got to have a go on at the latter and picking out some of the best ones just in time for Christmas (now less than two months away for those of you not counting!).

So on with the games, and today I’ll be starting with two fairly dissimilar ones in the form of ‘Avatar’ and ‘Professor Layton & Pandora’s Box’ which were played on the PS3 and Nintendo DS respectively!

Eurogamer Expo 2009 Review (London Gaming Show)

November 2, 2009

eurogamer-expo-2009-logoHere at Zath we like to do things properly, so when we thought we’d check out the Eurogamer Expo 2009 not only did a couple of us visit the Leeds gaming show but I headed off down to London to get a fuller picture of what was at the Eurogamer’s gaming show and see some of the things that the others didn’t have time to investigate.

So after a relatively quick train ride next to a man talking to his watch (the downside of putting phones on your wrist), I like my Zath counterparts, entered the Eurogamer Expo 2009 this time housed in the Old Billingsgate just a few hundred meters down the river from Tower Bridge and I have to say I too was impressed!

Eurogamer Expo 2009 Review (Leeds Gaming Show)

October 30, 2009

eurogamer-expo-2009-logoEurogamer Expo 2009 (Leeds) was our first venture out into the world of gaming shows and we were both quite impressed with what was on offer, so here’s a quick review about what we saw.

There were a few games that I was dying to play and some that I was mightily surprised with once I had some hands on time with them. Upon our arrival we were shocked to see the size of the queue that surrounded the building. Luckily we managed to take advantage of our press passes and jump straight through without having to wait for hours to get in.

Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time Demo(s)

October 5, 2009

ratchet-and-clank-a-crack-in-timeThe time is nearly upon us. A while back we caught our first glimpse of the Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time trailer and now the game will soon to be released on PS3 which means there’s sure to be a demo released.

Well there is…and we’re going to be getting two Ratchet and Clank: A Crack In Time demos!

The demo was going to be released as a single demo but there might have been problems because of the size of the file and the time it would take to download.

Mini Ninjas Demo Preview (PS3)

September 6, 2009

mini-ninjas-logo-white-bgThis is probably one of my most anticipated games of the year. I added it into my Top 10 Most Wanted Games and ever since I saw the first trailer for Mini Ninjas, I wanted to know more and get my hands on it to have a go for myself.

That time has finally come.

Wheelman Demo (PS3)

March 18, 2009

wheelman-ps3-coverFrom my last post on the Wheelman preview, I was quite excited to get my hands on a version of the game that I could play, so I was pleased to see the demo available on the PSN.

But after playing the demo, I’m less enthused about the final product.

Imagine if you will, Grand Theft Auto mixed with………….Crazy Taxi!!

Now some of you might think, “WOW! That sounds amazing”, but I was left feeling disappointed by a game that promised quite a lot.

FEAR 2 Demo (PS3)

February 6, 2009

fear-2-project-origin-liveYou can now play the FEAR 2 demo ahead of full game being released over here in good ol’ blighty on Friday 13th February…..

……felt like that needed a long pause.

Anyway, back to sanity. Yes folks, FEAR 2 is hitting our shelves 13th February, but gamers across the pond in the US will get it 3 days before us.

Fear 2 is obviously the sequel to 2005’s FEAR. The events of the FEAR 2 take place shortly after the end of the first. You’ll be thrown into a sinister and paranormal world as a special forces member. Whilst on a routine mission the city of Auburn, where you just so happen to be, sees itself in the middle of a supernatural explosion. You find out that a girl named ‘Alma’ has unleashed hell upon the city and it’s up to you to unravel to mysterious……mysteries in Auburn and put an end to Alma’s evil.

Mirror’s Edge Demo

November 14, 2008

mirrors-edge-kickI’m writing this about Mirror’s Edge on the day which we’ve seen the release of Call of Duty: World of War, the 5th game in the amazingly popular game franchise and I just can’t wait to get my hands on a copy and wear out the disc.

But….this game, Mirror’s Edge is released today that I feel deserves a special mention as it hasn’t been widely advertised as much as COD 5 and it could turn out to be the best game of the year.

I’d seen the title around here and there, but never paid much attention to it as I’d not seen anything about it. Then the demo became available on the Playstation Network. So I decided to delve into this game and see what it actually was.

It blew me away!
