MiniMee Personalised Custom Keyring

November 25, 2009

minimee-personalised-custom-keyringYou must have seen those adverts all over the internet for ‘cartooning’ yourself. If not then you probably have seen those artists down by the beach or in city centres who offer to draw hilarious cartoons of you. Either way, the MiniMee personalised custom keyring is even better.

For just £19.95 you can have a small 3D version of you made to hang on your keychain!

All you have to do is send in a plain photo of yourself with no goofy sunglasses or interfering friends in and 3 weeks later you receive your mini keychain. You also have to disclose your eye colour to avoid confusion with photos.

MusicSkins Review (Personalise Hi-Tech Gadgets With Skins)

November 9, 2009

musicskins-logoYou’ve got your iPod, you’ve got your laptop, and now you can proudly walk around showing them off just like everybody else. But we humans seem to have an inherent need to be different, so somehow stand out, and thus the idea of adding skins to your prized electronic possessions arose and a company called MusicSkins are at the forefront of this market and so we thought we’d have a look.

The first thing you’ve got to do if you want to make your device unique is have the right device, but fortunately this is a pretty easy step as there is a fairly wide range available: the Nintendo DS, Sony PSP and PSP slim, iPhones, iPods, Zunes, SanDisks, a whole variety of popular phones (10) , five different size of laptops (12, 13, 14, 15 and 17 inches), Seagate Hard Drives and most importantly four types of Guitar Hero controllers.

But, alas, despite saying it was easy I found I in fact had none of them which fortunately is more of an exception (especially considering how much I love new tech) than the rule. Mostly this is due to the fact that MusicSkins do not currently offer netbook skins (hint hint!), or at least skins for those less than 12” – so borrowing a sibling’s Nintendo DS was then next step…

Moonpig.com Review (Personalised Greetings Cards)

November 4, 2009

moonpig-logo-personalised-greeting-cardsPerhaps the best, quickest and easiest way of buying personalised greetings cards! Moonpig.com allows you to choose from thousands of card designs and alter them to add the personal touch. You can upload photos and fit them into the design or add your own personal message, for example you can have your message hanging on a colourful banner from Big Ben or your photo hanging, gold framed in an art gallery.

The home page is split up into 3 sections. The left hand side is purely for navigation. There is a list of all the different categories of cards from anniversaries right down to weddings. Those with sub–categories are indicated with a small arrow. Overall it is very simple to find your way, as well as being neat and tidy.

PhotoSketch: Internet Image Montage Software Creates Custom Images

October 8, 2009

photosketch-internet-image-montage-software-initial-sketchOccasionally something will come around, often a piece of software, which will just amaze you and leave you marvelling at the capabilities of today’s technology. Not wanting to build it up too much, but in my opinion Photosketch is one of those.

So what actually is it? Well in the words of the people behind it (five students from Tsinghua University, China) it’s an ‘internet image montage’ which is capable of compositing a realistic picture from a user provided sketch with text labels.

Ok, that may not sound much, but it is more impressive than it first appears. If, for example, I wished to have a picture of a man parachuting out of a hot air balloon I would draw the rough outline of the hot air balloon and the man, label them as such, label the background as ‘sky’ and then set it off. What Photosketch then does is trawl through the internet looking for pictures that look vaguely like your little sketch and then stitch them together to make a realistic picture.

Make Your Own Monopoly

December 4, 2008

make-you-own-monopolyAs Zath HQ is not based in London, we feel very little attachment to the geography of the Monopoly board – Old Kent Road had no tangible meaning and Pall Mall means next to nothing. How much better would it be if you could actually make your own Monopoly choosing the names of the streets and call them whatever the hell you want. Well now you can!

With My Monopoly you actually get the opportunity to have the board printed with whatever names you chose. This means you could be playing the “business man’s board game of choice” around your very own town and you can chose whether you live in Old Kent Road or Pall Mall.

World of Warcraft Custom Guild T-Shirt

November 11, 2008

world-of-warcraft-custom-guild-t-shirtBlizzard have now introduced the option of creating your very own World of Warcraft Custom Guild T-shirt that takes the hassle out of being limited to specific designs or having to get your own WoW T-shirt designed elsewhere.

If I’m honest, I’d have say that I’m not sure if it’s something that I would personally want to buy – for my tastes, there’s a little too much WoW information on there. I prefer T-shirts that are a little more subtle, perhaps just having my guild tabard and horde/alliance symbols on it without the rest of the design.
