New PS3 Slim 250GB Bundles

Adding to my post from last week about the 250GB PS3 Slim rumour, I can now say that those rumours have unsurprisingly come true!
The bundles will start to make their way onto the shelves on 1st October (exactly one month after the 120GB Slim was released). Prices will start at £284.99 and will give you a choice of software to choose from. You’ll be able to grab yourself a bundle containing 2 platinum titles or a copy of inFamous.

There was a lot of talk a few weeks ago about Sony releasing a slim version of the PS3 after releasing the PS3 80GB and PS3 160GB last year. A questionable image was leaked onto the internet and it looked like it could be a legitimate image. Well it was and the Sony PS3 Slim is real, and it’s been one of the worst kept secrets of the year.
Sony finally made the official announcement at Gamescom in Germany. The PS3 slim will be priced at £249 which is quite a nice price cut from the ‘Brick’ (which I’m now going to aptly name mine as) and will be available to buy from September 1st 2009 which is a whole 2 days before Japan!!

PS3 hard disk upgrades are easy to do, at least that was what was mentioned in the comments of our recent ‘new PS3 160GB’ post – with that in mind I thought I would go out and do a little research on this subject to see just what is involved.
I was pleasantly surprised to see just how simple Sony have made the process of replacing a corrupted hard disk and also that of upgrading your PS3 hard disk to a larger capacity – which in turn means you don’t have to go out and buy a new PS3 to replace your smaller hard disk model.

As you may have already read in my “Pure (PS3) Demo” review, the game is a racing game on ATV bikes and has a feel of Motorstorm and SSX. The craziness of Motorstorm with 16 riders on the track at one time which can be fun, and the tricks you can pull off on the jumps is reminiscent of SSX.
You might notice a difference to this review and this is because I’m going to be doing game reviews from the tech side a bit more to give a deeper account of the game being reviewed.
And what a game to start with!
The opening of Pure has you completing a training session the same as in the demo, and then you have to build your own ATV which is really cool! Then it’s into the game! When you’ve completed a few races and gained some points you unlock extra parts for your bike which helps to improve your ATV.

Imagine a mix between Motorstorm and SSX……..and you’ve got Pure!
I saw the PS3 demo for this game on the Playstation Network and thought it could be good for a laugh for a couple of minutes, but this game has left me wanting more.
Pure is the new ATV racing game from Disney Interactive. In the demo, you have objectives to complete before you can race. The objectives are there just to get you used to the game controls and include, doing a lap around the track, pulling tricks, boosting and completing a lap within 27 seconds.

A new PS3? If you’ve just bought the brand spanking new PS3 80GB and you’re in a bad mood anyway…..don’t read anymore into this!
Sony have announced that they are to release a 160GB model of the PS3 in October 2008! – Only 2 months after the release of the 80GB model! Also, I very much doubt from what I’ve read that the new 160GB version will have PS2 backwards compatibility or any of the features of the 60GB model.

Start your engines to one of the dark horses of the Playstation 3’s release titles.
I could not believe how good and addictive this Motorstorm is. I got this with a package as I didn’t think there were any other games better looking and thought it would be ok for a couple of hours or so.
A year down the line and I still love this game. Motorstorm is off road racing at its best and now it’s back as one of the PS3 Platinum games.
I’m not really one for racing games as I find them very repetitive and get boring very quickly, but this is just pure chaos on dirt tracks and lots of exploding cars and bodies flying everywhere and I love it.

Sony are set to release a new model of the Playstation 3. Instead of the cheap Playstation 3 40GB model now available, there will now be an 80GB model which will sell at the same price of £299.99.
Apparently the memory card slots and PS2 emulation will not be making a return on this new model, which is a shame. But I would have thought that this model will feature the new Dualshock Sixaxis controller that was released only a few weeks ago.
