Bundle Box Offers UK An Early iPad Release Date

March 14, 2010

bundlebox-logo-buy-US-products-from-ukTransatlantic shopping service Bundle Box have managed to secure a deal which will allow UK customers to get a fully legit Apple iPad before the official UK release date. Not only does it not cost any extra than it would if you waited for the official release, you actually save £30 on the predicted launch price due to the differences in retail price between the UK and USA.

So you may be thinking, well won’t I have to pay import duty? Won’t that make the savings pretty much negligible? Well actually, no. Thanks to a binding ruling by UK customs, there is a guaranteed 0% import cost.

So it all sounds pretty spectacular. Of course, there will be plenty of skeptics which will disregard the idea under the assumption there is a ‘catch’. As far as I can tell it is trustworthy and I can’t see why it wouldn’t be attractive to potential iPad buyers. In addition to the lower costs and early release, delivery is promised within 3 days of the US launch date. The pre-order of the Apple iPad in the US opened on Friday 12th March.

Swoopo.co.uk Online Auctions – An Innovative eBay Alternative?

November 10, 2009

swoopo-logoSwoopo is on the face of it, a great place for a bargain, they advertise sales such as Nintendo Wii’s for only £20-50. Sound’s great. However, as always, there’s a catch, but perhaps not one that will deter you from joining in.

Basically, Swoopo is an auction site where you buy an amount of bids before you are entitled to place any. Quite different to the likes of eBay. Bids bought directly from the site cost 50p each and can only be bought in great numbers. So that is how they make their money. So it appears a win-win situation.

However, some users have reported spending more than £70 on bids before they were successful on any items. Some claim it is impossible to win just one auction, but users are advised to monitor some auctions to see just how the site works before jumping in placing bid after bid, literally throwing money away.

8 New Vodafone ‘Own Brand’ Mobile Phones

September 4, 2009

vodafone-logoWhilst the world of the Blackberrys and iPhones maybe becoming more popular, the market for the recession stricken is still present and growing so it comes as no surprise that as the demand for cheaper phones grows. Vodafone is just one of the operators that are answering with their own branded phones that are targeting the market that’s less willing to part with hundreds of pounds.

Hoping to build on the figure of the 20 million handsets shipped under their name, Vodafone have now released eight more which vary as much in purpose as they do in looks. As you can imagine they aren’t particularly revolutionary (that is not to say that there aren’t a couple of surprises) but they’re definitely a varied bunch ranging from an entry level touch screen option to both QWERTY and candy bar styles…

football-manager-live-logoWe’ve been big fans of the Football Manager (FM) games over the years and when Sports Interactive released their online Football Manager Live (FML) game we had to get signed up and get playing, how I wish they’d be a Football Manager Live voucher code back then!

That was 6 months ago and we’re still paying our monthly subscription and playing our football matches against all sorts of randomly named teams – so it certainly has some staying power for most of us!

Amazon UK MP3 Download Store

April 6, 2009

amazon-mp3-uk-logoAmazon’s UK MP3 Download Store has been around for a while now, and it has being trading blows with iTunes over the title of best music download store; but with Amazon’s latest update we figured it was a good time to have a good look at the Amazon MP3 Store and whether or not it was worth using.

Using the familiar Amazon layout the MP3 section offers around 5 million tracks that you can download using the ‘Amazon MP3 Downloader’ and then gives you the DRM free songs in MP3 format which you can easily add to both Windows Media Player and iTunes direct from the application; and all at a price substantially cheaper than buying a hard copy (those ‘old-fashioned’ CDs).

‘Left 4 Dead’ – 50% Off on Steam

February 14, 2009

left-4-dead-logo-greenI’ve been looking at getting Left 4 Dead since it was released late last year, but haven’t got round to it…until now! Steam are offering 50% off Left 4 Dead on Steam for this weekend only, so if you’ve also been interested in this game, then this weekend is the time to get it…and get your mates to get it too while it’s cheap!

Why should you tell your friends about this game as well? I’ll tell you why, Valve created Left 4 Dead game (using the same Source game engine as their Half Life 2 game) from the ground up with the intention that it would be a 4 player co-operative game in which you and three friends play through several zombie-movie-style post-apocalyptic environments trying to survive a non-stop onslaught of zombies.
