Street Fighter IV iPhone App Preview
February 16, 2010
Capcom have announced that Street Fighter IV will be released for iPhone this March and from what I’ve read, it sounds like they’re trying to keep what made Street Fighter IV such an acclaimed hit upon its release last year.
The same art style will be used on the characters but in a smaller, scaled down version. The list of characters so far is just Ken and Ryu, but there will be old fighters and some of the new ones from SFIV included in the iPhone release.

In April 2009 I did a review of Street Fighter 4. I managed to get my hands on Capcom’s latest fighter, Tatsunoko vs Capcom and I can already say its Street fighter 4 but faster, crazier and very Japanese. If you’re familiar with the VS series, you should feel right at home with Tatsunoko vs Capcom. The game was developed by Eighting and was originally realised exclusively in Japan. Due to high demands it was released a year later in the west with extra modes and more recognisable western characters like Frank West from Dead Rising.
If you have never played a VS game before, here is a quick summary. It plays like a regular Street fighter game but everything is put on turbo. The combos reach double digits regularly, the speed is much faster, and it’s all about being as aggressive as you can rather than staying at the other end of the screen firing fireballs at your opponent.

Thirteen years ago Capcom revolutionised the survival horror series with one of the scariest games ever made called Resident Evil. Resident Evil 5 is the seventh instalment to the survival horror series. The game stars the original character from the first game, Chris Redfield, and a new character, Sheva Alomar. Resident Evil 5 is a reinvention of Resident Evil 4 with extra abilities and a cooperative mode allowing you to play the game with a friend.
The objective of the game is to stop a deal involving biological weapons going down in Africa. The storyline closes out Chris Redfield’s history and explains what has happened to him since the mansion incident in Resident Evil 1. This is specifically designed for people that have been playing the previous Resident Evil’s as the story keeps going back to the past events.

I’ve never played the Monster Hunter games before, as they’ve never really appealed to me when I’ve read about what you have to do in the games. But after playing Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I’ve got hooked on it.
When I was explaining the game to a fellow computer nerd, they said it sounded like a grown ups version of Pokemon. I’ve never played Pokemon so I’ll take her word for it.
The aim of the game is to train yourself up to become a Monster Hunter and to go out on quests killing or capturing monsters to earn yourself money and a reputation for the best Monster Hunter around.

We’ve recently featured a preview of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite in which we explained the basic premise and what the game entailed, this is certainly looking like a pretty impressive Sony PSP game both in terms of graphics and gameplay – these Monster Hunter games are huge in Japan and Capcom have now brought them to our shores for us to experience them for ourselves.
As part of Capcom’s Monster Hunter Freedom Unite release in the UK also involves the opening of the Monster Hunter Gathering Halls in Central London, a social gaming centre where Monster Hunters from all over can gather together to receive tutorials/training, content and questing events, all free of charge to anyone who has a Sony PSP and a copy of the game.

To co-incide with the release of the Monster Hunter Freedom Unite game on the Sony PSP, Capcom have on the 3rd July 2009 opened the The Gathering Hall which is a dedicated gaming centre located in Central London – not far from Tottenham Court Road tube station in fact!
You might be wondering why they’ve done this, Capcom are trying to replicate their social gaming success that they’ve enjoyed with Monster Hunter in Japan where these games have over 3 million players and out-sold both Pokemon and Wii Fit last year – now you certainly don’t hear that kind of statistic very often!

Capcom have announced that there is to be another Monster Hunter game to be released on the Sony PSP later this year.
This time with Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. It’s not exactly a new game, but more of an updated version of Monster Hunter 2, with added monsters and areas to explore. There are around 8 new monsters to track down and your inventory has also been upgraded to allow you to carry more items when hunting, 99 of each item to be precise. New areas include places such as the ‘Old Forest’.

It has been over 20 years since the very first Street Fighter game and Capcom have added another edition to the successful series with Street Fighter 4. The Street Fighter series is arguably one of the most respected fighting series of all time and Street Fighter 4 is most definitely the best one.
The first noticeable thing with Street Fighter 4 is the character roster. Unlike Street Fighter Third Strike where Capcom discarded just about every character, Street Fighter 4 offers all twelve of the original world warrior characters that started the series.

Microsoft have decided to entice me even more to buying an XBox 360 by releasing a limited edition Resident Evil 5 bundle, and it’s red!
The red Xbox 360 looks pretty sweet and a lot slicker than the white versions and I even prefer it to the black Elite.
Which version of the 360 is it I hear you ask? It’s the Elite version, which also includes a red wireless controller, 120GB HDD, black wired headset, and an exclusive Resident Evil 5 theme which you download from XBLA.
