Twitter Gives Better Results Than Google?

May 19, 2009

twitter-logoCan Twitter ever be better than Google? Well perhaps in the future we might get a definitive answer to that question; however I thought I’d write about a recent situation where I found that Twitter gave me a better result when looking for an answer than the mighty Google did! Especially given I was originally I was anything but an advocate of Twitter, in fact a couple of years ago when I started this blog I was a big skeptic and did question of what is the point of Twitter?

First of all, I’m not comparing Twitter’s in-built searching capability of tweets with that of Google’s searching of webpages – I’m sure Google is still the finest indexer of information out there and if there is an answer to what you’re looking for, I believe it can get you to it more efficiently than other search engines, be it Yahoo, MSN/Live, Ask Jeeves or the recently released Wolfram Alpha.

Gadget Show Live Roundup

April 25, 2009

gadget-show-live-april-2009First of all, I have to say that I think it’s great that Channel 5 TV programme, The Gadget Show has such a following and large number of viewers that a Gadget Show Live event like this was firstly planned and then very quickly sold out by the fans of the show – I think that says a lot about a large of people in the UK being quite tech-savvy and enjoying all types of gadgets that are out there.

This was first event that I’d attended of it’s type on behalf of Zath and was quite excited to see what was on show to the visitors of this event after seeing so many great shows on TV that take place in America, Japan etc.

How To Improve Your Online Communication

April 5, 2009

typing-on-laptop-keyboardAnyone these days can claim their own slice of internet territory, and be the authority figure of that virtual piece of land. No doubt many people reading this are either webmasters, admins, forum moderators, bloggers in their respective niches. Being a good authority figure on the web requires many talents, particularly when it comes to networking with partners, communicating with readerships and developing a community.

The grounds of this is obviously language, yet unaware to most, online communication is by nature destructive and problematic – destined to cause confusion. It’s embedded in the linguistic construction of online communicating and worth talking about if we are to become better authority figures within our community.

A Zath Christmas!

December 7, 2008

Well I think it’s fair to say that the festive season has well and truly arrived here at Zath HQ – hopefully you’ll have noticed that we’ve got our LED Christmas tree and decorations put up in our logo at the top of the page.

Watch out in the coming weeks for special Christmas Zath competition coming your way – more news on that as soon as I get things finalised!

What added to the Christmas atmosphere even more was that last Thursday was the first time in years that they’d been enough snow to prevent us getting to work to our day-jobs – so I used the ’snow day’ to get a few things done round the house and also got some work here on the website.

Twitter Clients & Applications

October 21, 2008

twitter-logoI thought I’d give a little update as to how I’ve been using Twitter and what I currently think to it given my initial Twitter scepticism for the service when I first started blogging over 18 months ago – how times have changed, how those archives can come back to haunt you! ;)

If you’ve been following Zath on Twitter for the past few weeks you’ll already know that I tend to go through days of several Twitter updates to some where I may only reply to other people’s Twitter – essentially using it as a chat or IM service. Either way, I’m finding that the Twitter community is a great one to be a part of and have found people answering questions that I’ve Twittered even though we may not have chatted before.

Math of Zath – August 2008

October 7, 2008

math-of-zathAdmittedly I’ve left this August round-up a little late, so I’ll keep it pretty short and hopefully you’ll find something you missed the first time round!

Here’s what was big in August according to 51,000 people who visited Zath in that month – which again was up on the previous month, around 25% in fact, so that was rather nice growth, hopefully that will continue, which would be great!

If you have missed some of these posts the first time round, be sure to subscribe to Zath so you don’t miss any of our new content!
