Computer Weekly IT Blog Awards 2009 Nomination for Zath

That’s right! I’ve been nominated for an award in Computer Weekly’s annual blog awards, specifically in the category of “Individual IT Professional Male“.
It’s now over 2.5 years since I started up this blog here on Zath covering various aspects of technology, gadgets and gaming and in that time there’s certainly been highs and lows in writing and running this blog, but it’s certainly nice to get this kind of recognition by being nominated for a blog award from what is one of the top technology publications out there!

Back in March we had the Gaming BAFTA Award Winners 2009, the awards that celebrated achievement in the gaming world; but that’s not the only computer orientated awards out there – the internet also has its own awards ceremony that rewards those that have stood out in the world of the web, the Webby Awards.
And yesterday was the date for the 13th Annual Webby Awards and with just under 70 categories from ‘News’ to ‘Best Use of Typography’ and from ‘Banking/Bill paying’ (I know, one category for both, ridiculous! :p) to ‘Weird’ there really is an award for everyone.
However, I think it’s important to point out the major flaw with these awards before I go on, and simultaneously explain why Zath.co.uk hasn’t won any. It was of course because we were not entered as both a pay-on-entry and pay-on-attend policies are in effect and although both generate revenue, both also put off some of the smaller websites that may otherwise win awards.

About a month ago we brought you the nominations (Part one and Part two) for the 2009 BAFTA video games awards, and last night the biggest names in the business converged onto the London Hilton to see who would walk away with the awards this year.
As predicted all of the categories were closely fought for, but unlike last year there was no runaway winner with only Dead Space and Call of Duty 4 winning multiple awards. There were also quite a few surprises: especially that both Grand Theft Auto IV and Wii Fit walked away empty handed. So, on with the awards:
