ASUS N-Series Laptop Announced (Bang & Olufsen)
March 2, 2010
With the world becoming ever more mobile as time goes on and 3D movies growing in popularity and demand, computer manufacturers have produced some fantastic machines capable of offering both of these properties for as little cost as possible. None more so than ASUS with their latest offering of entertainment laptops. The Bang & Olufsen ICEpowered N-Series laptops are the perfect combination of power and elegance for movie lovers and gamers alike.
The machines are capable of full HD and 3D playback which is clearly something that will be implemented into the majority of entertainment laptops over the coming months.
Obviously, with Bang & Olufsen backing the machine, you would expect the audio to be of high quality too. Therefore this really does make the perfect entertainment machine at what is expected to be a relatively low cost for such a machine and personally I think it looks much better than the ASUS NX90Jq Laptop (Bang & Olufsen design) that was unveiled recently at CES 2010.

Just in case you hadn’t noticed, 3D has been on the rise over the last year, and the success of James Cameron’s Avatar movie has really catapulted the technology into the limelight not only just for films but for games as well and that’s where the Asus G51J-3D comes in – it is the first laptop that comes ready packed with the popular Nvidia 3D Vision technology.
Now Nvidia’s 3D Vision technology is nothing especially new (in fact I was lucky enough to have a play with it at the Eurogamer Expo in October 2009) but this is the first time it has been offered in a laptop, mostly due to the string of requirements needed to get it up and running.
The problem mostly comes in the form of the monitor, but the 120Hz display and compatible GPU that the G51J offers, combined with the necessary Infra-red emitter and the included set of Nvidia’s 3D glasses means that you will be able to play in glorious 3D on the move.

I dare you to find a Bang & Olufsen product that isn’t well designed… To me, B&O are the pinnacle of design in the technology industry, so when I heard that ASUS had turned to the company to design their brand new laptop – the Asus NX90Jq.
The design screams Bang & Olufsen as soon as you look at it, so surely this is doing to be a hit? One things for sure, everything B&O touches immediately doubles in price, so it’s going to be highly priced.

October 9, 2009
As more an people start using computers and we see more of them springing up across the house (you may within the next few years have separate ones in your kitchen, lounge, bedroom etc) the issues of size and energy efficiency as well as the all important and already prevalent performance and cost come into play.
Hoping to solve these problems is the MAG PC from Zotac which aims to deliver good performance whilst being small enough to be placed anywhere around the house – 186mm x 189mm x 38mm is just the right size to be suitably discreet (much like a Mac-Mini), but this can even be mounted to the back on the monitor that it’s attached to.

February 10, 2009
Every so often we see a new version of the Asus Eee PC appear (all being members of the 700, 900 or 1000 series, in this case the latter) and more often than not they do not make much of an impact on the netbook world. So when Asus announced the 1000HE a couple of days ago many questions were asked as to whether it would be any improvement on what has already been done – is it more than just an extra vowel?
From what we found out at the CES in Las Vegas we know that it will have a brand new keyboard and an improved battery all of which hope to improve in areas where the Eee PC has not previously performed as well as it could have.

January 27, 2009
I am a big fan of netbooks: I love the way they combine portability with a machine that you can actually do things on without being bulky or fiddly (almost a compromise between a smartphone and a laptop). However during the last 6 months I have grown increasingly frustrated with the amount of netbooks being released by big names that have been so generic it is untrue.
But if you are going to look at netbooks you will see there are a few that immediately stand out: the Acer Aspire One, the Samsung NC10 and Asus’ N10 and numerous Eee PCs. They all occupy well defined rungs in the price ladder (roughly £200, £300, £450 [and everything in between for the Eee PCs] although obviously different models result in a large range). But Acer, who have so far been flushed with success, are hoping to displace the NC10 from this list.
