Focus On Imaging 2010 Review (Photo & Video Image Capture Exhibition)
March 9, 2010
Last Sunday I was lucky enough to visit the annual Focus on Imaging exhibition where I joined the anticipated 35,000 other people that will be coming through the doors of the NEC over the next few days (until this Wednesday 10th March 2010, so it’s not too late for you to pay it a visit) to see what has become the most popular photographic show in the country.
What everyone comes to see is one of the biggest concentrations of cameras and anything vaguely related to them this side of Buckingham Palace, and to see some of the biggest names in the business showing off their best and newest offerings to the market: people such as Panasonic, Nikon, Canon, Adobe, Epson, Fuji, HP… I could go on!

Hold back the vomit; it’s time for Real Player SP!
If you’re like me, something happened in your teenage years, when you lost your mind through a combination of hormones and white cider, and decided that it would be a good idea to install Real Player on your computer.
Back in the age of Netscape, when .rm (and all the other) files were competing equally with every other format out there, it was quite a reasonable, even necessary thing to have Real Player installed. Of course, that was then and this is now. With the advent of VLC Media Player and similar cross-platform products, Real’s stranglehold over the .rm genus of increasingly insignificant file types has all but disappeared.

Adobe AIR, a cross-platform base for developers to…well…develop their applications. The majority of apps boast a neat user interface (UI) and are very effective. It’s free, and it runs on Windows, OS X and Linux. Surely a must for any developers or home users looking for great apps with great functionality.
With that in mind, here’s 5 great Adobe Air applications…

I’ve recently written a post over at Connected Internet about Free File Conversion and how I found a website that can convert a variety of file formats online including being able to take a PDF File convert to Word.
Lost – Sawyer Speed Painting (Video)
November 1, 2007
One of my most popular early posts that I made when I started this blog was about Photoshop painting videos speeded up – so you could see the whole process involved in creating a digital piece of artwork in about 5 minutes of viewing time. The first one showed a video of Lost’s John Locke Speed Painting, that was then followed up with another one, that of Kate Austen’s Speed Painting.
Given we’ve still got over 3 months till the start of the new 4th season of Lost, I thought it’s maybe time to post another one of these people who are talented with Photoshop – especially as people seemed to enjoy watching what is possible with a computer and a bit (or maybe a lot) of creativity and artistic talent! This time it’s one of the girl’s favourites, the bad boy Sawyer himself!

I’ve recently posted some very cool examples of drawing characters such as John Locke and Kate Austen from the TV show, Lost.
Lost – Kate Austen Speed Painting
June 3, 2007
Following up on my previous post that illustrated how good some people really are in using Photoshop (a lot better than I am that’s for sure!) by drawing a great picture of John Locke, here’s another Lost-inspired bit of Photoshop work that I found highlighted over at JohnTP.
PDF Creator Free
May 15, 2007
I think you’ll find that PDF Creator free very useful, I’ve found in the past that you end up doing quite a bit of unnecessary printing whilst browsing online whether it’s taking a copy of invoices or order confirmation screens or just temporary pages to work from, I kind of started feeling a bit guilty about this, just because of the waste factor of it all.
I then came across this rather useful alternative, it’s called PDF Creator free and all you need to do is download and install the file found at the link below and will then appear in your Windows list of printers.

I found this today, it caught my eye because it was Lost related, but would have been just as impressive had it been artwork done of any other person really.
Just take a look at this – I really wish I was able to do this kind of creative stuff by hand, let alone be able to do it all on a computer in Photoshop, I just sat and watched this in awe!
