Star Wars USB Memory Sticks

r2d2-usb-memory-sickHave you seen these Star Wars Character USB memory sticks before? When I first saw these ‘Star Wars Mimobots’ I thought they were just a little novelty item that somebody had faked in photoshop or something, but you can actually buy these!

I’ve written about USB memory sticks such as the Corsair Voyager and other more random USB devices such a USB humping dog! But these certainly are worth taking a look at if you’re a Star Wars fan in the market for a new USB storage device.

Features:
Flash Memory available in 1GB and 2GB (2GB available for Darth Vader only)
Exclusive Star Wars content installed on the disk: Wallpapers, desktop icons, original trailers and a soundbite application featuring audio from the Star Wars Saga.
Dimensions:

Product – approximately 3cm (W) x 6cm (H) x 1.3cm (D)
Packaging – approximately 6.5cm (W) x 13cm (H) x 6.5cm (D)

From looking at the specifications, these 1GB or 2GB capacities may seem a little small compared to today’s standards and you can tell that these aren’t going to be the most high performance of USB memory sticks in terms of read/write speeds or using them with Vista for ReadyBoost purposes. However, as a means of basic transporting of files, they should certainly do that in style!

I’m not sure of the overall build quality of these products as I’ve not yet got one myself – I’ve got USB devices all over my desk as it is – am having a hard time justifying getting another one, however at these prices I’m rather tempted to go for one all the same – I think it would have to be R2 for me!

Has anyone else got one of these Star Wars memory sticks? What do you think to them? Which do you think looks best?

That’s cool…But I think the shape might close the next usb port so it can’t be used.

If I had a nickel for every Star Wars gadget produced, I’d be almost as rich as George Lucas himself. The ideas are endless. :)

Those are friggin’ sweet! Its hilarious that Vader’s is the only one that can hold 2GB. I’d totally grab the stormtrooper one, and probably Darth Vader’s as well. Who could resist?

Ooh, they have quite a few now it seems. The Boba Fett one looks awesome. Too many choices! Oh, and for LegoBoy above, they cost £29.95.
